Our state is creeping up and our Governor has banned all but 9 states from the non-quarantine list. We were told at a company wide meeting yesterday that work from home will probably continue through next year.

My niece was diagnosed with cancer and the trips for chemo have been frightening for her. Her baby just turned a year and she has a 3 year old. The numbers in her state are rising and her chemo is at risk. I don't know how people are coping.

Stay home, stay safe and save lives, including your own.

As if the pandemic wasn't bad enough. I'm so sorry to hear about your niece and will be sending her positive vibes for a successful recovery. I can't imagine the stress of fighting cancer, being immunocompromised due to chemo and then also dealing with the COVID threat.

Thank you erik. That is so sweet of you as well. I will definitely pass this on. What's cruel about this for her and for so many others, her cancer diagnosis was delayed due to COVID and she got into a program that had finally opened up and now the future is unclear. Her breast cancer is a rare form and it took some time to get the right chemo cocktail. She is among a huge and growing group of cancer patients who are running into this.

This is unprecedented and is going on everywhere for endless types of diseases and chronic conditions.

Thank you again.

States are starting to issue more requirements like mandated masks. Good.

Edw, sending long and loud prayers for your niece.

Prices in the grocery going up. My just went up $0.20. Batches of greens are getting both smaller AND pricier.

Our governor in Washington State just announced another lockdown through December 14th. Gyms will close, and restaurants will close for indoor dining. Take out only. Supposedly we can't have friends over to our home for dinner, but I don't think that can be enforced. Who would know? Grocery stores are open but must limit customers to 25%. I will have to check out more rules.

The vaccine needs to move more quickly.

I just do my part and have given up on other people doing the sensible precautions.

Not that this virus ever went away but it looks like the next four months are going to be very dark. A vaccine won't be a miracle cure and I hear you gotta take it twice. Then you have to get the vaccine to 300 million ppl (in the US) Rushing out a vaccine (because were desperate to get back to normal) may do more harm than good AND now the anti-vaccine alarmists are coming out in full force. So your going to have the anti-mask/anti vaccine crowds. All this just to tackle THIS strained of the virus. It's not like there's not going to be another mutation. Moral of the story? Society at large needs to reinvent itself and get its head out of its @ss or we're all going down.

I think they'll be a few vaccines early next year, there's around a dozen vaccines in the final stages of clinical development, with the Oxford vaccine hard on the heels of the Pfizer. The talk in the UK is the size of the job to give it to everyone (well, everyone who want's it) a massive undertaking, but the mind boggles when you think of a country the size of America. I can't see us noticing any real difference until the Spring at the earliest. Right now I can't imagine going into a shop, or going on public transport with wearing a mask. Bloody hell, all those millions of stories of jobs lost, business failed, suicides, & all those cancers & other medical conditions gone untreated.

I think that's smart regarding the restaurants and gyms joan. But I agree that the indoor gatherings can't or won't be enforced. I think we are headed back that way. I thought our governor was doing a great job but he's been all over the map for the coming resurgence in our state. I believe we have the longest list of quarantined states in the country (41) but our numbers are going up due to restaurants and bars, colleges and large gatherings. we have good compliance with mask wearing. He seems to be waiting to see what the governors of NY and MA are doing before he acts.

My son is determined to come over for Thanksgiving. We may all get tested prior to play it safe. I checked into it and we can get them. However, with numbers going up, I'm not sure we want to take them away from anyone. My family and I will gladly take the vaccine if it's proven safe and I doubt it will be released if it isn't.

On a happy note, my daughter will be graduating virtually from the University of Alabama Auburn on December 11th with her Master in Accounting. I can't believe the time passed so quickly and that at least we'll be able to view it online.

Another vaccine announced today from the US company Moderna. This one won't need the frozen storage. I'd expect a few more announcements in the coming weeks.

The situation is so desperate in Minnesota that the governor is begging people that don't like him to listen to the health experts so they can stay alive to vote him out of office.

I'm not sure the stat the governor was using at his press conference today, but I believe he said the Dakotas and Minnesota are in even worse shape than New York from last spring and the rate of infection is highest in the entire world. A former state rep with a different political affiliation than the governor was at the press conference today begging people to take the virus seriously. He had covid a few weeks ago and had to wait four hours for doctors to find him an open ICU bed in the hospital system.

The Herd Immunity tactic, which many thought was the best way to play it out, has backfired for Sweden, who are in a real sh!t storm right now, as Christmas fast approaches.
They're banning alcohol sales from today!!

There's no way they could do that in the UK (& I suspect other countries), there really would be a riot. We're getting through all this with the help of booze!

I'm not convinced that Sweden is in a 'shit storm'..... particularly when compared to the UK where I live. Their deaths per capita is about 25th in the world and unlike the UK and many other countries, they have not screwed their economy. That's not to say they haven't made mistakes in Sweden (but what government hasn't) and hospitalizations are rapidly increasing, but they at least have a logical philosophy in how to manage the virus. And I say again...... They haven't screwed their economy like we have in the UK. The shit storm in the UK will start once they try to straighten the economic mess we are in.

Also, in England, we can handle an alcohol ban..... But Scotland is another matter.

I know the UK will be in economic shit street, but so will be nearly every other country: EU, America ect.
