If we have to relive that, then you have to wear Jack Weston's hideous shirt:

big grin

Fair enough, as long as I get to shoot this little b*st*rd instead of Pete!

Imagine what a frenzy the world media could do if godzilla popped up in the sea of japan? I wonder if somewhere a producer would try n get him on a chat show?

It seems the question is not if you can avoid catching it, but how long will it be before you do?

I'll just go ahead and offend a bunch of folks on here.
An in-joke making the rounds in some workplaces in my area is, "At least this scare has the Europeans bathing now."

In the 19th century during the various Napoleonic wars, all the jokes & cartoons in England was about how dirty the French were, they never bathed...& in France they said the same about us. I think too much washing is bad for you, being a bit grubby is good for you, at least that's my theory.

The economic fallout of this lot is going to be horrendous & long lasting.

Sad, but true. I'd wager that the economic damage due to panic and hysteria will be worse than the cost of actual remediation.

Come ~ July, how will this all be remembered?
- For the staggering death toll?
- The economic impact?

Any chance that the Corporate Media Complex will be remembered for its role in creating havoc?

Virus spreading fast in the US. Faster than here in the UK. We did have more cases - 460 total - but now the US has over 1000. Why is this? Better healthcare service to diagnose it?

Well, the U.S. having five times the population of the UK might have something to do with the larger number as well.

Many of our cases have originated with someone coming from overseas. The U.S. is now banning all non-U.S. resident travel from Europe into the U.S. (except from the UK) for 30 days.

It's a strange travel ban really as it excludes the UK when the UK has more cases than most other European countries.

Can't offend our friends.

I just realized I ordered a soundtrack from Germany. Should I be afraid? Let me clarify, have they banned imports of CD's?

Ive had to shut off my news feed.
Every story in the top ten stories is a corona virus heading with scaremongering and hysteria the theme throughout.

The media everywhere should hang their heads in fkn shame, they have literally bathed in stirring shit.

They just canceled the NBA because one player tested positive for the Coronavirus, instead of just isolating him and screening the rest of the league players and staff.

I hear Hockey may play games in empty stadiums. Worse case scenario they'll go on a two week hiatus.

I happen to subscribe to that particular theory, as well.
It's also has a basis in good science.
You can't build up resistance if you're not exposed to germs and bacteria (within reasonable limits, of course).
It's the same principle as administering a vaccine that has dead viruses in it.

However, I do always wash my hands like crazy--and most of my filth is in my brain.

Fellows that's insane! Stay away from people who show signs of the flu. Wash your hands often and don't touch your faces. Nature will take care of your immune system without your help!

THIS! The agenda of the "American" media is quite obvious in this whole thing.

What gives me the reda$$ is the attention to the folks who've contracted coronavirus. They might as well publish their names, addresses, family members, etc.! I dread that some of these folks will be regarded as "Typhoid Marys", even in this day of supposed enlightenment.

When all this is over, I'd love to see the "media" held to account for all the misery, panic and hysteria that they've been largely inciting!

Warning folks is one thing, but inciting panic?
Where's Howard Beale when you need him?

It's the Italian imports you need to be worried about. I wouldn't touch the CD case itself until the 14 day quarantine period has passed.

I was very much in your camp Jackfu a weeks ago and put a few posts on here very much along the same line as yours. However, after speaking to some friends in Italy, I have to say that whilst I still feel that the press havent helped the situation, and have been irresponsible at times, I do think this could be much more serious that was first put out there and actually the press in England are not reporting just how bad things are in Italy. I can only presume they have shown restraint in this because they genuinely would panic people. Given that we have a bigger population than Italy packed into an area about the third of the size of Italy, this could spread very quickly here and I must say I am much more concerned than before

I get your point, Mark, and I'm not trying to diminish the seriousness of this event at all.
My outrage is aimed at the media and the difference in their coverage of coronavirus vs others:
2009/10 - H1N1 (Swine flu) - >60,000,000 Americans infected, ~20,000 deaths. How much media hysteria and panic?
Flu kills 30,000 per year, how much media hysteria and panic?

I get it, we haven't seen the end of this yet, it may be more contagious, more easily contracted, etc., but have you noticed how little attention the actual death toll is getting?

This sense of panic--whether warranted or not--reminds me of hurricane season here in Florida, when people go nuts stockpiling supplies while watching the news almost constantly.

Stay informed, follow the hygiene guidelines, but don't camp in front of the TV or computer watching news for hours at a time.

Exactly, and it seems to me, but I haven't looked at "The Metrics" frown really, but I'd swear that the viewership numbers are inversely proportional to the hype level.

wink

Edit: Okay, now I'm really getting ticked! Grocery stores, Dept. stores, etc. with whom I do online and in-store shopping are now bombarding me with emails about how coronavirus savvy and prepped they are, sanitation (that's ok) and supply-wise (not ok!)!
If I didn't know better, I'd say they come off as exploitative (Cockney accent)!

These people are just asking for a Jackfu Spoof Song! - I mean it!!!
