Alphaville’s “Forever Young”—the slow version—was well known here, but only by the sacred few who bothered to listen to college radio back then.
Alphaville sure could rock a mean intergalactic mullet.
It's a great song. Laura Branigan had the hit in the US with it if I remember. Their 1984 debut album of the same name is what the kids refer to today as "a banger".
I learn something every day! Never knew Laura Branigan covered it. My brother-in-law’s ex-sister-in-law (his ex-wife’s sister) was *obsessed* with Laura Branigan, but that’s a dark place I won’t tread into any further...
I’m pretty sure I can twist any fond memory or anecdote and wind it toward a most unpleasant story! Yikes!
That's another great song, originally recorded by German singer Raf (not Red Army Faction btw). Shame what happened to Laura in the end, she was certainly easy on the eye
1980s. Now we're talking my language. Alphaville, Laura Branigan. I'm listening to 1980s David Bowie this weekend. This is usually his most criticized decade, but with songs like Let's Dance, Absolute Beginners, When the Wind Blows, and As the World Falls Down, there is a lot to like.
Pink Floyd's, The Wall. I'd forgotten how good this is (it was the best concert I ever went to), I love the sound, I think it's supposed to sound like a concert, only the best sounding concert you ever went to.

Unfortunately, I never saw THE WALL live myself, neither the original concert series nor the new one. But I have the concert DVD, the album (obviously -- it's one of my top 10 albums of all time) and have seen both Pink Floyd and Roger Waters live. So it's not all bad.
