This could be the solution...

This Himalayan Crystal Salt Lamp on wood base offers a holistic approach to home air purification. Natural salt formations are mined from the Himalayans. The formation is hand-chiseled to remove the core to allow for the addition of an electric lamp which radiates a soft pinkish orange glow. The heat of the light in the salt lamp attracts water vapors in the air. These vapors hold allergens and toxins which attach themselves to the salt lamp leaving the atmosphere clean. The lamp then releases clean water vapors back in to the air, providing an allergen/toxin free environment as well as imparting a variety of wellness and calming benefits.

I do hope you're joking.

I have one of those! A friend had a few for sale just when I was thinking the lamps and lights I had in my room were too bright. I love it. Dimming it with no other lights on sets the best romantic mood! And it has a bit of Kyrponite/Fortress of Solitude vibe. And I like reading my Kindle with it on late at night.

I beg you guys - ventilate the rooms more often. The suggestion is simple but frequently is ignored by folks. It's not an easy task if you have good European or German windows with reliable mechanism. I used wooden frame a year ago and it eventually stuck.

Our rooms need ventilating regularly but it's nothing to do with the virus, ahem, leave it there big grin

Things I haven't done since the pandemic:

Watched a dvd I have not seen before.

Eaten French fries.

Shopped in any store, except a grocery.

Latest annoyance: people who sit 18 inches away from the only door to enter/exit the bus.

Yes, some seniors have to do it. It's the twenty-somethings with headphones on who are the irritants.

Has no one else noticed grocery prices going up?

I did not see a mask anywhere. Am I just an old fart, a party pooper?

Nope. Just someone who thinks first, acts accordingly. Not too many who do that, as you've noticed, Ed.

Following on Ed's and Solly's post about July 4: I saw and a fair number of get-togethers when I went out for exercise.

What I didn't see exactly is if they had masks on, or if they were likely to already be living together. I've gotten to the point where when I go out, I just don't want to look at people. I feel far too worn out from being disgusted at the apathy.

All because our governor reopened the state too quickly and also because of yahoos who think it's unAmerican to require people to wear masks. Welcome to Texas!

Nothing happens to them if they don’t wear masks. Restaurants and bars can say, “No shirt or shoes, no service,” but they can’t enforce masks.

Two more instances of Americans thinking they're cowboys.

I was out yesterday in a very busy part of London & looking around outside on the pavement, I'd say it was only about 10% (or less) wearing masks. That includes me not wearing a mask, I just can't see the point of them outside, I carry them with me, as I need to wear them on public transport. I went to my local supermarket (Waitrose) yesterday afternoon, & I didn't see one member of staff wearing a mask (it can't be much fun wearing one all day), maybe a third of shoppers wore one, I didn't.

They had to make masks mandatory by law in my area because we are facing severe outbreak of Covid cases. I had to pick a few things up at the store. Yes, everyone had masks on. Well, some thought they were smart and rolled it under their chin once they got into the store. But people still not staying six feet apart and are going the wrong way up and down the isles. Amercans can't follow basic guidlines. What a bunch of children adults are in the US.

The mutation of the virus has apparently made it more contagious. Even though our state has one of the two lowest rates of anything right now, my son is being more vigilant than ever. He's posted requests and reminders asking friends to remember to wear masks, distance etc. NOT ONCE has he ever mentioned his disease. He never talks about it to anyone but family and close friends. The only reason his co-workers know about it is due to his numerous bouts and hospitalizations.

Unfortunately some of the "friends" have been commenting about how wearing masks are useless, the virus is a hoax, how they're partying blah, blah, blah. These are former employees of my son and are the very ones he helped while they worked for him. He has helped these employees get housing, has given them money out of his own pocket and put up with a lot crap while they worked there. They know about his condition through working with him.

This is small stuff in the big picture but it gives you an idea of how people are viewing this and why is it going to go on and on.....

The problems in the world stem from one or two characteristics that are even worse than greed: noone ever likes to take orders (even to act responsibly), especially when it comes to cleaning up their own mess (pollution). In this case, polluting the air with virus.

If it becomes more lethal like ebola or visually noticeable like a pox, people might take it more seriously. Of course by then, it'll be too late.

Someone made a good point. (paraphrasing) If you could get cancer by someone breathing on you everyone would be wearing masks and not complaining. They can't wrap their brains around this virus thing.

If it had the effect of the "skin and bones syndrome" or a radium cigarette, they could wrap their brains around that...literally.wink

Had a bit of a scare last week....

A week ago Sunday I came down with, let's just say, a gastrointestinal issue. The scare? I did go out for a birthday dinner with 2 other close friends to a restaurant on July 4th. Social distancing was followed, masks were worn, no one was anywhere near us and the waiter and staff had masks, etc.

Having said that...

As aforementioned, the following day and week I got sick. Not food borne, been there done that, know what's all that about. But then I saw that the new updated Covid-19 symptom list just got updated and what was added was exactly what I started experiencing. I had nothing else mind you, no fever or cough or chills or headache, etc. I could not get a covid -19 test as they are booked solid but I went to my doctor anyway and he felt it was NOT Covid-19 but acute gastritis as my symptoms were clearly pointing in that direction and I've it before. Antibiotics were prescribed and after 3 days of no change and I was getting tired at times and I was getting worried and began focusing on every single cough or sniffle.

My doc told me to give it the weekend and sure enough by Sat afternoon I got back to normal and am doing fine.
And no, I won't be going to anymore restaurants now, social distancing or not. Take out and groceries are my only things now as it was when it first started. The Covid-19 fire is fully ablaze. In GA about 10% of tests come back positive, hospitals are filling up to near capacity, whereas in AZ it's hitting close to 35% positive rate and Fl and TX are getting well up there too. Death rates have been touted as being low but it's being repeated over and over with a simple "Just wait". frown

Why aren't dummies disposing gloves their masks in designated bins this is annoying & risky too children & elderly. i've seen 100's round the city floors I picked-up several loads what I saw then burnt them, pity, the good ole days the regular council cleaners & communal gardeners (due to cut-backs) have mainly been replaced by criminal community-workers, that don't give a rats about communal areas, rack & ruins.

You were right to be nervous and I would have reacted the same way. Glad you are okay.

Our state along with RI are the two lowest in new cases right now. I see this causing a lot more people to be out and about, some without masks. My 81 year old sister has COPD and told me she's been to the hairdresser twice and out to dinner. What can I say? I told her she was nuts but she insists the numbers are down so... I see this attitude and wonder when our numbers are going to start going up.

For the record, I was a really late in life baby. smile
