There was a good run that i just watched. Olivia D'Abo was a Q learning about her powers - i always liked her in stuff. It was pretty watchable.

Then the crew got turned into kids, which was actually pretty fun, and fought off a Ferengi attack. I thought it would be irritating but i enjoyed most of it.

There was a really poor western holodeck episode that at least Brent Spiner must have had fun doing - A Fistful of Datas - but it was pretty poor in story and very flat visually too.

A two parter where Picard gets captured by Cardassians was very entertaining. It helped they had the great Ronny Cox and David Warner in both episodes. Shame they never appeared in it more as guests. Cox, in particular, was very good as an aggressive and unliked replacement commander.

Then there was a Barclay episode that was decent, with Moriarty trying to get off the holodeck. They should really do a product recall on holodecks, it's nuts. The Moriarty actor is really decent.

Yeah, but how many lights do you see?

Have you seen "The Most Toys" yet? One of my favorites.

Yes, i did really like it, it's one of my favourites too. Saul Rubinek was very good and it made me want to go back and watch everything he's been in. I'd just seen him in the final section of Buster Scruggs too. Such a good actor. It was a lot of fun and a nice little story.

I'm watching them in order, and just watched one that was pretty good and had an alien like "The Thing". Then there was a decent episode with Troi disguised as a Romulan in a Cold War defection plot that would have been very relevant at the time, i imagine.

"The Face of the Enemy", featuring a terrific (and only effort) score from Don Davis (available on one of the volumes from LLLR).

For what it's worth, my opinions on the Trek spin-off series:

Deep Space Nine:
It has some highlights, but I didn't care for it, and it kept getting bogged down in war.
You might want to, however, watch the episode where "Riker" appears.

Voyager
Crap, but again, some highlights. The clown episode is good and the ending -- for me -- is in line with something that might have been done on the original series.

Enterprise
Garbage.

Of course none of these opinions reflect the scoring on the shows.

I'm probably going to get around to the other series over the next year. I have been regularly impressed by the music within TNG. If they're as easy watching as TNG then it shouldn't be too bad. I hope they some interesting guest stars in them like TNG does.

Deep Space has some very dedicated followers, it always has, but..

They had a good productoin crew and staff, and a good cast. I like some episodes, but I found a lot of it rather a chore to watch. The Changeling and the Bajoran stuff is trying for such depth and seriousness that it quite often falls under it's own self important weight. The station 'family" episodes were mostly ok, and when they thankfully got off on a shuttle craft. Avery Brooks worked in the basic functional captain stuff, but tended to crank his 'chew scenery' motor up to 10 much too often, like he was working on the stage.

There were a few decent episodes i just watched of TNG. Worf goes to find a prison camp of Klingons and instead finds a colony of Klingons and other aliens getting on well. He destroys their idyl for the good of the people while learning that interracial marriage is not wrong.

Then there's a fun Under Siege/Die Hard type episode with Picard versus some terrorists. It has the nice ticking time bomb of having some sort of sweep going on that kills anyone still aboard the ship. Glenn Morshower and Patricia Tallman are also in it again, which was good to see.

There was also a good episode where Picard gets a girlfriend, who sadly was only in this episode. It would have been nice to have had that storyline stretched over a few. She was a good actress and interesting character too.

A Deep Space Nine cameo also happened in an epsiode. I'm assuming this was because the shows were running concurrently and it was to help DS9 get a few fans? It was an okay episode.

Those are all good episodes, now you got it.

On that Picard girlfriend one, are you talking about the one that is a part of the crew, or the other one, that is not a part of the crew, she is an explorer? They are both good roles. I really find myself quite smitten with the explorer character Vash played by Jennifer Hetrick, who appeared in two episodes of TNG, Captains Holiday and Qpid, and one ep of Deep Space.

This is a severe violation of my Star Trek fan contract, but overall I found Voyager a more enjoyable and entertaining show than Deep Space.

As I recall, the story behind this was, Avery was very stern and wouldn't loosen up and took it all way way too seriously. And apparently he didn't think too highly of the experience, avoiding most appearances at events and for an interview for the upcoming documentary on the series.

DS9 just wasn't my thing. To many prosthetic alien characters. I prefer science fiction that centers on humans. I watched Voyager the first couple of seasons. It focused a lot more on interpersonal conflict which made it more interesting than NG for me. Not sure why Enterprise gets so much hate. I thought it was good, it just never lived up to its potential.

I remember him once saying he wasn't "Black" he was "Brown". In real life he was out spoken about social political issues.

as all tv series, and all Trek series, Enterprise has some real stinkers, but largely I think it was well produced, the craftsmanship was pretty high and the writing got much better the later in the series. The music was very solid. But of all series, it had the absolute worst finale of all Trek.

On this occasion it was an Australian actress who played a crewman. She was really good. Vash has been great when she's been on. Good actress and the character is fun. A few members of the crew acted like mean girls at school to her, despite her being more interesting potentially than half of them.

There was a Riker gone mad epsiode that was decent. Also Guest starred Andrew Prine who i always liked and Susanna Thompson again, who i think shos up as three different characters over the years.

Bev Crusher had an episode that was a murder mystery type thing. The idea was alright and the killer reveal was decent, but Crusher just doesn't make an impression in it. The actress doesn't project any authority, she just comes across as an annoyed teacher and is one note in every scene.

There was just an interesting episode where Worf summons up a legendary Klingon leader - sort of. I think he ends up turning Klingon into 1930s Japan by the end of it.

Troi had a murder mystery episode; perhaps you are thinking of her and not Beverly. Beverly had an episode where everybody on the ship kept disappearing.

Oh no, this was a season 6 effort. A Ferengi scientist created a new sheilding system and in testing it a fellow scientist died. Then the Fernegi was also found dead. Crusher performed an autopsy against the wishes of the authorities and was going to get canned, so sleuthed herself back into the service by solving what was actually a murder.

I forgot about that one. They were no Mrs. Columbo, that's for sure.
