10CC: I’m Not In Love I’m not in love (with this song), so don’t forget it. I’ve heard it called pretentious, but one doesn’t know 10CC if one thinks that. Its self-mocking lyrics show that. 10CC definitely had a sense of humor. And, strip away the lyrics and you’d still have a great instrumental. I enjoy the keyboards, which while prominent aren’t overpowering. Also, it sounds like the guitar is an electric, with no amplification as it doesn’t have the resonance of an acoustic. It’s a good sound, but one that could be overdone; in this song it’s just right. It seems to me they got the balance of the instruments just perfect in this song. I admire all the hours of hard work that went into the backing vocals. All done on tape and layered and looped. Nowadays it could be done digitally in one recording session, but in ’75, it was all analog.
Oh, and by the way, I wonder if LOL Crème has given any thought to all the millions of people using his first name constantly on emails, texts, tweets, posts, etc. Talk about your royalties!
I enjoyed your 10cc thread of a few years ago, jackfu. Well done, old sport, especially since I misremembered it as being started by Timmer.
"Rock Steady"- Aretha Franklin (a Queen of Soul song that has not suffered from overplay in pop culture). There's an alternate mix that's even better...
Nobody got my really easy quiz. Useless, the lot of you.
Dude, it's The Cure "Friday I'm in Love" for fukk's sake! That's not a quiz, it's an insult to the collective geniuses that form this shitty community!

No, because I friggin' LIVED IT when the song was first released!
Robert Smith always looked like latter-day Elizabeth Taylor, didn't he?
Yes i know the four Duran Duran taylor brothers. I lived it.
I'm sure you did.
I tend to talk down to people like they were know-it-all Millennials, the most self-actualized generation of all time since the Baby Boomers, of course.
Interestingly in the beginning Planet Earth concert was new romantics and normal adults. A year later Rio tour was thousands of screaming teenage girls!
I always liked the rather silly song STAY done by Maurice Williams in the 50's, but my favorite version of STAY was the rocking version by Jackson Browne which kicks in at the 5:60 mark. (His first song is also good.)
