It took me a good long while to get with this composer's serious music, but I have and I really enjoy it.

I'm curious why Humphrey Searle's 'absolute' music had a long digestion process with haineshisway. Was this because of the composer's 12-tone vernacular?

With serialism, it just takes me a while to get with the program. Some I never get with, the true "noisy" ones, but Searle I got with eventually, Frankel, too.

Ok, lets see how you get on with this one, a favourite of mine -

Not familiar with this, Mark. I'll let others attempt to guess this one.

No, not Roy Budd - but a good guess. This is from a 1972 crime film

I'll get in on the fun. I'm actually guessing this won't be too hard, but we'll see:

After all the mentions of Arnold Bax I am about 80% sure that Terrapon's piece is Arnold Bax. Incidently Ken Russell made an excellent film called the Secret Life or Arnold Bax that I recommend - Russell plays Bax (not all that well) and Glenda Jackson plays Harriet Cohen (his mistress and pianist (sorry about the order))

That is indeed Bax. The previous posts about him was really a coincidence (I went through my random playlist to find a reletively appropriate track).

It's a short tone poem called "Red Autumn". I'[ll give another one a go late today....maybe try and see if I can stump people with something I *really* love...

Bax is the berries. I have an extensive collection of Bax, but somehow I didn't have that tone poem.I shall now rectify that, which is one of the reasons I began this in the first place. I love discovering new stuff that leads me to things I might not have known before.

But wouldn’t it have been cool if it WAS Air Force One?

I suppose so, Marc, but Goldsmith's score was pretty good, and the score clip I put on here was very much of its time - and probably would not have gone with a film from 1997.

Any more guesses - clues so far 1972 film, A French composer.....
