Hi, I have posted a new track below. Hope that is ok. I would still very much like to know the answer to Chris's clip from yesterday ? Can you let us know please Chris. And I hope you got my message re Cliff The Bastard (not a member of this forum but an excellent poliziotteschi film fro0m 1973) It is very much the type of music i like so I will probably try to buy it if it is available.
Of course it's all right - that's the purpose. To carry this on because - and I know this is apparently anethema to many here - it's FUN. Let's see if anyone figures out your clip. I think from the past clips, a few clews are helpful to get folks on the right track. As soon as this is guessed, I've got another one to post.
Lacoq is right...it is Tony Banks (ex Genesis) with his fabulous and underrated score for The Wicked Lady. I bought the score about 18 yrs ago when it was doubled up with The Dark Crystal. I bought the CD for Trevor Jones score and ended up liking the Bank's score the most and playing it all the time. I thoroughly recommend this score, if you can get hold of it.
From the style it sounds like an English composer, possibly American, but more likely English and quite modern 30's - 50's. It isn't any of the composers who dabbled in film music like RVW, Walton, Bax, that I know of so I am stumped.... any clues ?
Ok, this one I actually know...finally! But since I looked it up to confirm I'll let someone else have a go. I will confirm that the composer is British, and boy am I longing for his most famous score (well, famous movie more than score). A tantalizing excerpt appeared on a lovely collection of music of its ilk released some years ago now. (Boy I'm tying myself in knots trying not to say too much.)

I think you're on the right track. Maybe Schurmann or Humphrey Searle...Clifton Parker possibly.

Well, to be fair, the composer has been named So, just narrow it down. You folks are really good at the narrowing down part, though, seriously. It took me a good long while to get with this composer's serious music, but I have and I really enjoy it.
If it's not Schurmann, I've decided it's not melodic enough to be Parker. So my money is on Searle. Or maybe Benjamin Frankel...but you've said the composer has been mentioned. So, Searle.
