Anyone know the total time for that double CD?
What is the difference between the 2008 edition and the 2021 edition in terms of total time?

To be fair, it is a key feature of the film... (sorry about the size, can't find a bigger one)

I am just curious if it’s an Hybrid SACD ie allows both CD and SACD to play and if it’s in Stereo or Multi Channel or both!

For CD Playback it will just be the "red book" layer, so just 2 channel Stereo.

You would need SACD playback for the 5.1 mix.

I'd love to see more SACDs released of film scores.

I know some think this one is too expensive but it is 2 discs, and also has a 5.1 that will be uncompressed.

I think it's a big deal. and a nice move for Varese.

but that cover art wow the more I look at it the worse it gets! Why couldn't do they a variation on the older cover. It's one of the worst soundtrack covers ever lol

There are few soundtrack SACDs I know of: the first release of STAR TREK: NEMESIS which was in multichannel (I think) and E.T.'s original album came out on 2-channel SACD. Obviously some of the Gerhardt Classic Film Scores have been released from quad masters. Are there others?

Thin Red Line, I believe

I pushed for SACD/Blu Ray Audio releases for over 10 years. I am glad that Cary heard me on this and we got to release this in 5.1. Anybody who knows me knows how passionate I am about high res offerings. If I can make it work at NFN I may look into revisiting some scores in SACD (2-channel and 5.1 if possible and cost effective).

I will happily listen to this and others in Apple’s spatial audio when it arrives.

Very glad to see The Matrix will be on an SACD. Ordered, with relish. And mustard. Outstanding score.

I agree the cover art is pretty blah, but as has been pointed out, that's more on the studio than Varèse. The music is the thing.

Who are these people?

Those really look like all of the duplicated Agent Smiths across the cityscape watching the final fight in Matrix Revolutions... if so, did someone with zero familiarity with the original film put this together? And did they somehow see the phonebooth (seen briefly in the opening sequence before being destroyed) as being a key part of the movie? And did it not occur to them that from a design perspective the stylized CITY on the phonebooth is way more prominent than anything else on the cover?

All that said, ordered and can't wait for it to arrive! smile

Nah! They're a growing crowd of malcontents who are still sore of not having received their copies of Lionheart (composed and conducted by L. Ion Heart)

Does it have anything to do with having to pay for the use of the likeness of the actor(s)? I'm thinking of Arnold on the cover of the original issue of The Running Man.

Just keep it simple.

I did this in about 20-30 min - the falling script isn't even script here, just abstract lines and dots with blur effects so no copyright issues.

Will allow Varese to use either for free in exchange for a copy of the SACD release razz

What is the deal with all those "Switch" in the track titles?

I understand they are playing with anagrans of The Warchawsky Brothers and The Matrix, but WTF?
Some track titles makes zero sense!

Anyway, great release!

[from Facebook comments on these releases]

“ To answer all your SACD questions:

The Complete Edition Matrix soundtrack comes on two Hybrid SA-CDs (Super Audio CDs). These Hybrid SA-CD’s contain a CD layer that can be played on any CD player, and a hi-resolution SA-CD layer that contains DSD audio in stereo and surround versions. The audio on the SA-CD layer has been upsampled from 48 thousand samples per second 24bit PCM audio to 2.8 million samples per second 1 bit DSD audio. When these disks are inserted into an SA-CD player or a Blu-Ray player that can play SA-CD’s, you will hear up-converted hi-resolution DSD audio in stereo or surround and realize the sonic enhancement that comes from the up-conversion.”

So this is an UPCONVERSION, which is a bummer! I was thinking of getting the SACD, but now I’m not sure it’s worth it.
