I didn't like Tyler's Rambo score at all. Everything about it was bland and generic. Worse, the action material was boring. Long gone was the pulse-racing, adrenaline-fuled, odd-metered frenzy of Goldsmith's action cues for the franchise.
.

I suspect that odd metered action material catches a lot of modern composers out of their depth.

Tyler or Silvestri just fine for me!!

But I'd have to go with John Powell I think...

I would vote for Silvestri. That would be amazing. I didn't like Tyler's score for the last film at all (even Goldsmith's masterful music felt out of place for me).

The last Rambo film IMHO was just a nasty, unpleasant, poorly written, and poorly scripted failure of a film. It tried so hard to come off as "realistic" yet in many ways it was more glorified, with its ridiculous OTT violence, and more offensive than "Rambo III" could even manage. The shutter speed effect that was constantly employed during action scenes also made me want to vomit all over Stallone's best suit.

I'd rather watch Rocky V again... yes, you heard me right. Not Sly's finest hour. roll eyes

Have your tried the directors cut of the film? Its a little longer and from memory some of the dialogue is quite different in certain scenes. I quite like it.

Everyone knows whoever gets the duties ain't going too replicate JG & Stallone isn't gonna want that either. I thought Tyler did a nice energetic score had cool melody in patches evoked good atmosphere too - it wasn't repetitive going through it I enjoyed it - I'd be happy to see him return.

I'd rather watch Rambo in a language I do not understand than see a post from you.

So are we even?

Of course we're even.... as in, who even are you? So sure, enjoy your foreign indulgence into mediocrity.

Just be sure to add me to your egonore list, and you can be guaranteed to never see me again.

Still doesn't seem to be anyone attached to score the film. It may mean Sly is thinking long and hard about getting the right composer for the job? Hopefully.

I remember the old days when pretty much every Stallone Movie had a Bill Conti Score. But I don't think Conti would want to take up the chores after Goldsmith's Iconic Scores. I enjoyed Brian Tyler's work on the last movie.

I always thought Conti would have produced a memorable score for a Rambo flick.

When I think Conti, I think uplifting score leading to a rousing finale. I couldn't think of a composer less suited to scoring a dark, broody Rambo flick.

Lock Up?

Cohen & Tate?

Parts of F/X?

The Formula?

Conti has the action & brody chops, but
it'll never happen..

It'll either be:

- Brian Tyler

- a Spanish composer - as is often the case for Hollywood films shot in great part in Spain - like Banos, Velazquez, Vidal or a few others

- or Trevor Morris, who seems to be Millenium Films' composer of choice on their serious actioners.

So the trailer is out. I wonder if the title Rambo V: Last Blood means it is the end of this series?
Maybe.

Still, the trailer says "coming soon" and another place says out in September. I still can't find a composer for this movie.

All this did was remind me of how sad it is that Jerry Goldsmith isn't alive to score this.

And even if he was dead, how sad it is that even Joel Goldsmith isn't around to score it.

It's supposed to be, but this is Stallone, so....

I am totally on board with this trailer. RAMBO was trashy fun; they could make these things forever as far as I'm concerned. I want every action franchise to have its own HOME ALONE installment. SKYFALL's was fantastic (don't @ me), as was last year's HALLOWEEN.

This looks like a Rambo sequel in name only.
