Hey, even if Goldsmith was involved in the song, it's still pretty lame. And I don't waste time listening to Piper Dreams from The Omen either. I've given this entire score a re-listen and I have to say it's better than I remembered. Some excellent highlights (though nothing as great as the first score cue) and the rest is average but quality stuff. Yavar

If you listen to "The Piper Dreams" as if it's Mrs. Baylock singing it, you'll feel much more creeped out, guaranteed.

Is there any word from LLL or Intrada that this is in the works? (Mutant, have you heard anything or should I just fork over the large cash amount for the current version?)

There is no official word at all from either LLL or Intrada. However, considering each of them released one of the four existing Jack Ryan scores by the franchise's currently living composer, James Horner, I think the chances are incredibly in favor of both the Poledouris and Goldsmith scores coming out...I'm guessing one from each label again. They probably divvied them up much as the Star Trek scores were split among the labels... Yavar

Indeed it would be, and Yavar, I hope you're right. Paying $6 for the current Basil score ain't no big deal; paying $40 for Sum is.

I have no idea what the filmmakers wanted to convey with it, but I found the operatic Goldsmith aria over the main titles - when you see the bomb - terribly inappropriate and over the top. It makes the main titles almost laughable. And the rest of the score - at least IMHO - is pretty much Goldsmith routine all the way.

See, that's the thing: Separated from the movie, it's just great music, no matter what the producers had in mind. I've listened to "The Mission" countless times. The rest of the score is rather disappointing though.

Your question was so important to me that I answered it 5 times. You're a true friend. So should I just haul ass and get the damn thing?

I am, unfortunately, one of those "must have sealed and new" if I can. The cost of such an OCD quality is high. Appreciate the heads-up, though.

I am, unfortunately, one of those "must have sealed and new" if I can. The cost of such an OCD quality is high. Appreciate the heads-up, though. Maybe your handle should be Fabricated Genius? Dude, it says Like New! And if you like it, you won't have to worry about taking too much of a financial hit once the (needlessly) expanded one is released! THAT one will be sealed! As your attorney, I have to advise you that this course of action is recommended. It's a win-win.

I will accept my attorney's advice on this one. Thank you!
