MV ...any hint on a expanded or complete release of this score?

To make things easier on some of you here is a brief list of titles that we are not able to License at this time:

Contact
Superman Returns
Batman Begins
All Harry Potter's
1492
The Last Samurai
North By Northwest
Practical Magic
The Witches Of Eastwick

Also, please note most of the titles Varese released from 1990 and up are in perpetuity to them, thus they are the only ones that can do expanded reissues of them.

So, for instance:

DIE HARD 2
PREDATOR 2
VOLCANO
STARSHIP TROOPERS
QUICK AND THE DEAD
AIR FORCE ONE
EXECUTIVE DECISION
STAR TREK NEMESIS

...ETC. . .

I implore you -- gather your film score geek forces and let the fine folks at Varese know they hold the golden ticket in their hands... that we, the fans, collectively, have 100's of thousands of dollars just waiting to be spent on all this wonderful music that needs to be expanded (Thor, shut the bleep up -- I mean it with love)

Now, Fly my pretties! FLY!

Thanks for the information MV! smile

It would be sweet if Air Force One, Starship Troopers, Volcano and Star Trek Nemesis got a complete release that all three deserve.

MV, I suppose you can add further volumes of Batman: The Animated Series to that list? frown

Thanks for the info, MV. Always interesting to learn this kind of stuff. smile

I would hope any expanded release of Air Force One could and would include Joel McNeely's contributions. Even if they have to be gathered together as "Bonus Tracks" at the end of the CD, it'd be fine, just as long as they were included.

All, and I mean ALL, of the titles listed above already have perfect soundtrack albums. Not only that, they're all still widely available too, right? Or have some of them become hard to find? If so, that would obviously warrant a straight reissue.

CONTACT is a nice score for the most part, but does get a bit boring at times. Could have benefitted from some trimming, actually, even though it's about 45 min. to begin with. I'd say it would make a smokin' 35-minute album! But it's not bad the way it is. Acceptable.

Well, that is certainly disappointing news, especially in relation to the Goldsmith titles. However, I'm sure that Robert Townson is more than aware of the enthusiasm for complete releases of the Goldsmith scores originally released by Varese, so hope is far from lost.

But I would still have much preferred that La-La Land take care of it.smile

"Not able to licence" followed by "Zimmer titles" is just... well, one big pleonasm... big grin

But if you can make Warner allow that, do Begins ! DO BEGINS !!!!

Hey thanks!

I should have instead asked what you can not release.

But this still leaves a bunch of releases for the great La-La Land -LA-bel to expand that I will buy!

Well I think ST: Nemesis will get a dx ed. maybe this year or 2012 (10th anniv). As for my two personal favorites: Pred 2 & Starship Troopers. I hope to see an expanded release one day soon in my lifetime wink

MV ...any hint on a expanded or complete release of this score?

Isn't this score also available in complete form on an isolated track of the dvd-release?

More Contact would be ok with me - in fact it'd be

G-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-D TO GO-O-O-O-O-O!

thank you very much MV.

horrible news for me though . I highly doubt varese will ever release a DIE HARD 2 expanded. Either Michael Kamen nor movies like that seem to have a high priority there. a sad day it is....

Is "Gremlins 2 the New Batch" in that same status?

That's a bummer about Air Force One and Practical Magic, I really would love expanded scores of those. Thanks for letting us know that info.

I assume that Michael Nyman's rejected Practical Magic is a theoretical possibility, though? It's one of his best, to judge from what's leaked out.

Thanks so much for that list. Very interesting!

What about The Adventures of Superboy (TV) by Kevin Kiner?

The property is owned (I assume) by WB and you guys have released some great WB stuff. It wasn't included in FSM's excellent Blue Box, but I'd LOVE to get some sort of release of this music.

Any chance?

Thanks for all the fantastic music!

Zack

I think most of the previous Varese releases were about 30 min long others 40-45 min. So I am hoping most of these titles will be part of their club releases.

Also I have to add Sphere by Mr. Goldenthal wink

Thanks.
