Fortunately I bought most of these on initial release --- many I have yet to watch completely =

Still my most watched are also the two SILLY SYMPHONIES because those were my favorite cartoons as a kid --- what I do not understand is why they were not released in chronological order - first the black and white , then the color as was done with Mickey Mouse --

as a matter of fact there are quite a few of the Silly symphonies that have not ever been released including a number of the B&Ws. Why?

also there is a 2008 unreleased Treasures set on the Salvador Dali / Walt Disney cartoon collaboration called DESTINO - you can see a trailer for it on the Tru-Life Adventures dvd sets -- does anyone have more info on what happened ???( you can watch it on youtube, too)

You know, I realized I had forgotten another important matter entirely.

Some of the treasuries have faulty discs and Walt Disney is offering replacements for those.

I Googled up some research about these problems. Here they are...

1. MORE SILLY SYMPHONIES

There are three problems with this set altogether - information about these problems can be seen here: http://home.mira.net/~kirseval/mss/

Also, here is Disney's official statement (although it has no mention of "The Night Before Christmas" nor "The Goddess of Spring", all errors are corrected on the replacements):

"In an effort to present the classic cartoons contained on MORE SILLY SYMPHONIES as originally intended, Walt Disney Studio recently recreated the original title cards that were to appear at the start of each film. Due to a production error, these restored cards were inadvertently not included on this new DVD collection. We sincerely apologize for this mistake, and are currently working to rectify the issue. Please check back for an update as to when the replacement discs will be ready. We anticipate them sometime in early March.

If you have purchased MORE SILLY SYMPHONIES and would like to have them replaced with the corrected DVDs, call 1-800-723-4763 (U.S.)/1-888-877-2843 (Canada). Please note, you will receive replacement discs, not replacement packaging. Please hold on to your current packaging.

Again, we apologize for the error and any inconvenience it may have caused. Ultimately, we hope you will enjoy these classic Walt Disney Treasures."

When calling Disney for the replacement, they will ask for the stock number listed on the disc. It is a 5 digit number in the same square on the disc that contains the running time and the technical support phone number. You should likely have this information on hand when you call.

2. CHRONOLOGICAL DONALD, VOLUME 4

The "Bee On Guard" cartoon cuts off the ending about 5 seconds too early before going to the title card. This is on Disc 1, and Disney should be offering replacements.

3. WALT DISNEY LEGACY COLLECTION - TRUE LIFE ADVENTURES, VOLUME 1

4. WALT DISNEY LEGACY COLLECTION - TRUE LIFE ADVENTURES, VOLUME 4

Here is a statement made by animation historian Michael Barrier on his website:

"A few words of caution: Some copies of the first and fourth sets in the True-Life series were released initially with mastering errors. In Prowlers of the Everglades, in the first set, the red and blue elements were reversed, producing strange colors. In Secrets of Life, in the fourth set, the final scenes should open up for a wide-screen effect, but in some copies those scenes appear in a pan-and-scan version. Disney home video had the correct masters but someone neglected to use them. The same thing evidently happened with the new Silly Symphonies set in the Walt Disney Treasures line. In other words, Disney has what appears to be a chronic quality-control problem, one I hope will be definitively addressed soon.

My copies of all these sets are defective; I've spoken with Disney home video, and I hope that eventually I'll receive replacement discs. If you buy any of the affected sets, be sure to watch them immediately and return them to the retailer if they're bad. There is, alas, no hope for any correction of the Legacy Collection's packaging, which has to be the most cumbersome DVD packaging I've encountered."

Here is a screenshot comparison of the color issues present in Volume 1, "Prowlers of the Everglades": http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/249173/true-life-adventures-color-issue-on-prowler-of-the-everglades

WALT DISNEY HOME VIDEO CONTACT INFORMATION

United States: 1-800-723-4763
Canada: 1-888-877-2843

For international customers: I believe if you call the USA number, they'll send out replacements to any country.

Hope this all helps!
