I consider myself fairly well-rounded when it comes to movies, but I have to admit I still have never seen any of these...

Alexander Nevsky
Notorious
Oliver Twist
Brief Encounter
The Lost Weekend
Olivier's Richard III
Little Women (any version)
Any musicals besides The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and the Sound of Music
Any Cohen Brothers Movies
Any Spike Lee movie except Malcom X
Ikiru
The Searchers
To Kill A Mockingbird
Lolita
Nashville
Raging Bull
Saturday Night Fever
Babe
American Beauty

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

I've never seen Gone with the Wind, nor do I care to.
I've never seen Brokeback Mountain....

You're in luck, Ikiru is on IFC this December.

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is the most glaring omission, but there are dozens more.

There are a million "popular" films, most released over the last ten years, that I have ZERO interest in seeing.

er, Ghost? It was popular. And almost every film made in the last five years that was either great or popular (yes, both of them).

Reading this list of these 26 important and quality films is interesting to me.

Of the 26 films, I've seen 21.

Of those 21, I watch 6 on a regular basis (some more than 50 times).....9 occasionally (2-10 times).....and 6 I will never watch again.

Of the 5 unseen films, I will make an attempt to watch 2 before I die, and 3 I will never watch.

5 or 6 on Michael's list are among my all time favorites. Over all, a list of excellent movies- I was stunned that he'd never seen them.

I've seen any number of films, both classic and obscure, foreign and domestic over the last 45 years, but probably the most famous I can cop to never having seen is FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, and the sad thing is I have a copy of the DVD a friend made and I've yet to look at it.

I watch them all in a movie theatre.
I even watched them again on my local cable each year.
Among them, there are films from my childhood: "The Day The Earth Stood Still", "The Searchers", "Singin in the Rain", "The Adventures of Robin Hood", "High Noon".

You know what: the irony is that Alex from "A Clockwork Orannge" sings "Singin in the Rain" while raping a woman with his droogs gang (sic!).

I have mention on the board before that my parents let me stay up and watch THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL when NBC aired it on "Saturday Night at the Movies" in the spring of 1962- need I add that it made quite an impression on a 5 year old, robot loving kid?

Why not the Godfather?

IMO it's amongst the greatest films ever made, along with Part II though I would consider the films as one entity.

And a cast to die for....Brando, Pacino, De Niro, Duvall....
