So, to make things simple for those who want to be in the know here are some answers to those numerous questions. Q: How many volumes will this be? A: Six Volumes...a total of 12 CDs Q: How often will these volumes come out? A: We plan on releasing one Volume every other month for the next year...although, things may occur beyond our control, so it could take a little longer. Q: Will everything from the 15 cd BOX SET be released in this series? A: NO. Absent will be some vocal tracks (didn't want to deal with clearances again) and all the GNP controlled music from episodes THE CAGE/WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE/AMOK TIME/DOOMSDAY MACHINE) Q: Will GNP be releasing the episodes they control separately? A: I have no idea. I hope they one day. Q: Anything new on these Volumes? A: All new liner notes by Jeff Bond...some quotes and such carried over from the Box Set. Also, new artwork presentation by Dan Goldwasser at Warm Butter Designs. Q: Will these new volumes contain stereo masters? A. No, sadly those masters are lost to the ages. However, we have combined all the elements we have previously released in the Box set as well as the 50th Anniversary Collection (now sold out) to present to fans the best possible listening experience. Q: Will you be reissuing the box set in the future? A: No. We have no plans to ever do a 15-cd bot set again. It was a fantastic seller for the most part and a successful endeavor, but it was an incredibly pricey project that would cost even more money today due to increased fees in publishing and manufacturing. So, if you have that amazing set cherish it because there is only 4000+ units in existence. Q: Do you plan to revisit other Trek shows like TNG and DS9 in the future? A: You never know what tomorrow may bring. If there is a call for future volumes, then of course we would be honored to answer it. If you have any more questions regarding STAR TREK ONLY please feel free to ask away in this thread. If you start asking questions in this thread about other properties other than TREK I will personally banish you to Ceti Alpha V. "City" and the season 3 main titles were recorded 1/2" 3-track "split mono" because they had vocals. The season 2 main title was recorded to 1/4" tape monophonically with separate vocal and woodwind overlays on another reel. All of these have been mixed to provide a stereo effect, but were never intended to be heard in stereo. The mono reels we used had every take and didn't say "remix" anywhere on them. This tells me the show was always recorded monophonically. Its a shame about the GNP controlled titles but I'm sure we all have those previously released scores anyway. I hope they sell well, I'm sure a lot of people passed on the box set because it was just to much money to put out all at once. Also, I'm wondering if MV, or Jeff Bond himself, can elaborate on how much new material we'll have with the liner notes. I have the boxed set but would consider a repurchase based on the amount of new stuff written alone. I do not miss having stereo one bit when listening to these recordings. Stellar work by everyone involved! I’ll be buying these new releases for Jeff Bond’s new liner notes alone. The TOS scores sound fantastic, especially for mono recordings. I actually tend to prefer mono over stereo anyway, probably due to so many scores in my collection being recorded in that fashion. Remember that we're talking 1960s here. The only way this music would ever have been expected to be heard would be through the single speaker of a 1960's TV set. Glad I will finally be able to own this music... Here's a silly idea: it would be so nice if you had the option to purchase the last volume with a deluxe cardboard box (similar to the beautiful "Star Trek: The Original Series Soundtrack Collection" box) with spare room for the previous five volumes. Such a deluxe box would go so well with my Harry Potter and Planet of the Apes boxset. Given the immense popularity of Picard Season 3 and the appreciation of the lush, thematic score (which actually feels like it belongs in the canon of Trek), has LLL reapproached Paramount about a potential CD release? The old Crescendo discs date back to vinyl and aren't as complete as the LLL box.
