After quite an adventure trying to procure this disc* (two failed deliveries from the usually reliable dodax-online, delaying it by months, before an e-bay seller eventually managed to get a copy to me), I've finally had a listen to this new score by Max Richter. Fans of the composer won't be disappointed, I think. Quite eclectic in nature. There's the trademark sombre Richter strings and piano mood pieces (still gorgeous) and some throbbing synth suspense and harsh tonalities on display (I like the way he utilises electronics in his works...I find them very interesting and most times...engaging). Never seen the series and likely never will, but the generous running time CD will get plenty of air play from me.
I love this little piece of electronica from the score (it actually reminds me of something by Owl City)..
*I try to be a big supporter of bricks n mortar stores, but the copy in HMV Liverpool was £14, while I could buy one online for £11, so I've gotta be sensible about these things...3 quid is 3 quid.

I watched one episode of the series and would rather have plucked out my eyelashes one by one than move on to a second episode. Glacially paced ponderous claptrap with incredibly irritating characters. (And I quite enjoy slow-paced pondering when it's done well!)
Looking forward to the soundtrack, though - I actually just ordered the CD last night along with a larger order from Amazon Germany. Richter's music is always worth hearing, even if he does like to repeat himself on multiple releases.
