  • Haha...no.
The silly Fur Elise insert (which actually ruins the mood for me) is in 'I Feel Thankful', (I think).
    You can ignore that.
The last 3 tracks are all top-level Silvestri.

    TOP!!!

    LEVEL!!!

According to his Instagram, Alan Silvestri has finally finished writing the score and begun recording it.

35 years and a pandemic but still the best experience a composer can have @bobs.shoes @bttfofficial and The Witches

As much as I am looking forward to this, it is a crime Stanley Myers score has never been released.

WHY do we need another adaptation of this story? Jim Henson helped make the previous film in 1990.
Can you get better than Jim Henson?
I guess we are going to find out whether we want to or not.
I won't mind hearing Silvestri do another score though. That NEVER hurts.

Aye. This is great, if not unexpected, news.
Even if the film stinks (and Zemeckis hasn't exactly been firing lately, even if I did love THE WALK), at least he lets Silvestri use all his creative juices.
WELCOME TO MARWEN (arguably Zemeckis' worst film ever) features a gorgeous score which I listen to at least once a fortnight.
So it won't all be bad smile

Yeah, Marwen was even worse than I had feared, but the score is lively in a way that even his Avengers scores don't always achieve.

You're dead wrong about The Walk, though having seen and loved Man On Wire, my mind was already set on "What was the point of making this?" going into the Zemeckis adaptation (the same could be said for Marwen AND The Witches, for that matter).

ONLY reason I watched "The Walk" was for the 3D experience of seeing the Twin Towers up close. It was fantastic for that. JGL was miscast as Philippe Petit. He looked nothing like him and didn't have anywhere near the skills. Zemekis could have cast better. It was just okay as a film.

All done, apparently. Given that this film still doesn't have a new release date other than "2021" who knows when we'll even be able to hear it.

    The last cue!!!

For sure. Myers was a very underrated composer in general and it's a shame that most of his work is still unreleased. His score for the Witches was subtly eerie and one of the first times I ever paid attention to the music in a film, as a kid.

Even though I can't read sheet music, I do appreciate that the page Silvestri posted includes instructions for the music to be played eerily and to include scraping sounds.

Was this score all samples? How did they manage to record anything orchestral in this environment?

He recorded Avengers: Endgame remotely, with the orchestra in London and himself/the sound engineers in California and it looks like he did the same thing here.

Wow. He even conducted ENDGAME remotely? That's impressive! I'm also surprised if orchestras are already convening in the UK. But if we're able to get a new Silvestri score and do it safely, bring it on!

I'm also excited for a new Silvestri score, especially since his best work with Zemeckis is almost always when they do fun genre stuff and that hasn't happened for over a decade now.

Judging from the photos on Silvestri's social media, I'm guessing they either recorded it in a studio large enough to accommodate social distancing or just split the orchestra up into sections and recorded them all separately.

Silvestri posted this on his Instagram page a few hours ago; seems like he's still working on the score.

    Working remotely...
