And you thought THE BRIDE WORE BLACK would be the only Bernard Herrmann gift at year's end! Wrong! There's MUCH more, and it's all here: https://newdiscovery.bandcamp.com/ On "The Final Day General Ketchum and How He Died", at 5:20, there's a prime example of Herrmann recycling, except it's the other way around. Here's the original melody, and it shows up again, slightly modified, in one of BH's later masterpieces. Enjoy.

I'm surprised these newly discovered BH works haven't raised morte interest... yet.

Any chance all of these would be released on a CD? They sound pretty good, better than an electronic version, but they are pretty expensive for what you would be getting.

I bought these. Yes, it is expensive for just a short amount of music, but I think we have to understand that prices have to take into account how niche something is. If we want people to produce really, really niche music that will sell maybe a few hundred units (probably not even one thousand), we have to take it on the chin that it will be more expensive than something that is easy to sell in large numbers. Cheers

You know that you can listen to the complete tracks (in MP3 at 128kbps) on the website for free? Not only "samples". Listen to them yourself. The files you can buy are only in higher resolution, but not mixed differently. They are not mono. For the fans asking for a CD. Did you buy this one, which also contains music from the "Crime Classics"? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0026OESC4

Why in the world are these new recordings done in mono (well there's a tiny bit of stereo echo I suppose, but still). Just...mind boggling. I haven't hear them all but I hear wide stereo separation in Crime Classics.

Mr. Woolston - since you have these, are they indeed mono-ish as reflected in the samples or beautiful stereo? The stereo spread isn't very wide, but it is stereo. The best thing is that the downloads are superior to CD quality: 48KHz, 24-bit. In Apple Lossless format, the files are around 2300kbps, by a long way the highest resolution files in my entire collection. (Most of my collection is CD rips, which generally come out between 600kbps and 1000kbps in lossless form.) Cheers

For the fans asking for a CD. Did you buy this one, which also contains music from the "Crime Classics"? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0026OESC4 I was warned off that one by somebody who told me that the interpretations were not at all faithful to the original Herrmann. Was he being too obsessive? What do you think? Yes, of course. "Psycho" is reduced to a VERY small orchestra. I does not sound like the recordings done by Herrmann, McNeely or Elfman with a full string orchestra. But it's still fine. A different "chamber music" approach to the score, fully matching the music for the "Crime Classics" episodes, which were originally composed for (max.) four musicians. http://www.bernardherrmann.org/legacy/site/db/old/m_rad_ad.html
