Bring him back to score feature films, I'm guessing the argument is. He hasn't scored a feature film since 2011, although he's kept busy with TV shows and other things.

Arnold isn't a farfetched suggestion for this universe in terms of suitability, but rather farfetched in terms of realistic expectations.

So far no suggestion here has equalled that of James Newton Howard. He was 'made' for this universe.

That also sounds about right. Let's face it, though - these movies are NEVER coming out.

I know that everyone will disagree but in my opinion Tyler Bates will be a great candidate!

Nope.Alan Silvestri is a far more realistic choice than Howard.Cameron has worked with Silvestri before and thanks to Avengers,Silvestri is a bigger composer superstar than ever before.

I'd wish it to be someone like James Newton Howard (in 90's mode), but I expect it will be Zimmer (who will probably just bag the gig, then farm it out to his many cohorts).
In my dreams, Bruce Broughton, Lee Holdridge, John Scott, David Newman or Cliff Eidelman get the job (and then in reality, phone-in a drone-in RC effort to appease the producers!!).
Pessimistic much?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

As much as I love Silvestri, I just don't see his style fit with a film like Avatar.

I'm not that big a fan, but if he could do something from the era of Contact and The Long Kiss Goodnight, it would be glorious.

P.S. Where's the release for The Long Kiss Goodnight? I'd love it to materialize sometime before I die.

Without knowing at first who got the scoring gig for Terminator: Dark Fate (which Cameron is both writing and producing), my guess—more of a bad joke, really—would be Junkie XL.

Besides, James Horner is so 10 years ago. /s

More realistic, perhaps, but JNH is more enticing for this project. We can always dream, can't we?

JXL is actually doing TERMINATOR: DARK FATE -- perfect composer casting, if you ask me. Not sure how suited he would be to an AVATAR universe, though.
