When will good intelligent people realize that Mr. Marshall is not to be taken seriously. He is on this board strictly to be the resident clown. He knows absolutely nothing about film music... Mr. Marshall is here to incite; not to give insight

I'm sure 1849 can cite numerous film composers he has known and interviewed.
Right old man?

Well, in my case, the obvious answer to your rhetorical question is, "Now."

Gee Preston.
I'm ' sorry' used the term ' suite'. Next time I'll use the proper term - " cue"
I promise to never make such a grievous mistake again.

Whether it's the same 8/9 tracks that have previously been heard, or the actual complete score I will most assuredly buy this CD!

If in fact the full score was discovered, it makes me wonder if any other musical gems have been unearthed. Imagine hearing Frank Skinner's Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein in all of it's glory!

And, no "No Korngold"?

I too wonder what might still be at Universal. I mentioned ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN earlier in this thread too. Would love to have any of the Universal horror scores from the 30's and 40's.

And how about MIKLOS ROZSA AT UNIVERSAL ...... all the great film noir scores he did there in the late 40's.

We can hope .......

Mr.Jones , Please believe me I never said any such thing. I am a fan of the golden age and Erich Wolfgang is one of the greatest. Mr. Marshall is not only a clown he is a pathological liar in need of professional help.

In my anger at seeing his post I inadvertently omitted the great name of Korngold.

Much obliged, Cody. At least I finally know what the hell that was about, thanks now to you.

As for any future postings by that other guy, rest assured, for me, it'll be "Mr. who?"

Thank you, sir. By the way, even if Tadlow cannot do it because of James' illness, I do hope THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER will be recorded by somebody while I am alive and kicking. Best wishes to you.

If only Intrada would include "Night of the Hunter" on a poll like this one, they might be quite surprised at how many votes it gets:

I know John Morgan and Bill Stromberg have been interested in recording it for years before James ever expressed interest. I just hope that SOMEBODY does it!

I was hoping James would do it or give all the material he has gathered to another label like Intrada or even Quartet who is now going that route. Anyway, hope springs eternal.

From your iips to God's ears, guys. And yes, hope springs eternal, in many different directions. As Evelyn Varden's Icey Spoon says, "God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform!"

And James, wherever you are tonight, I'm sure we're all just glad to know that you're still springing!

That is so true. No label has given me so much " GOLD" over the years as James' Tadlow label. He even remembered to put in the gunshots after the opening chords in DUEL IN THE SUN. What a guy! His recordings over the years has brought me so much pleasure.

I agree Cody. James' CD's are dreams come true. Back in the 1960's I never thought I would every get such recordings.

And of course THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN is a great surprise! It's one of my favorite scores.

"Hey Preston are you making the annual October trek east? Time it so you can make this event!"

I haven't been igonring your question, Howard, and it's a lovely thought, but there's a lot going on right now and I won't know until the last minute whether I'll be able to hop on the east-bound train. I'd dearly love to be with all the headless horsemen in attendance at BRIDE, but it's not to be, alas.

I read you loud and clear, Dr. Jones. Am still pondering a whirlwind weekend excursion for this thing, cardboard belt be damned and all. And always enjoy a side trip to Penn Station every now & then. wink

Tomorrow is the night for the official premiere of the restored Bride of Frankenstein. If you're close enough to attend the show in Tarrytown, there are several reasons to attend:

In addition to the estimable Mike Mattessino and Uni exec Alexia Baum (who represents the Heritage Collection) it's a rare opportunity to meet John Waxman and be one degree of separation from a Golden Age Great.

The newly struck 4K restoration of the film is a revelation, and the Tarrytown Music Hal has been upgraded for the event with 5.1 Dolby sound and a Christie cinema package to do it justice.

Plus you can meet film music insiders making a rare east-coast appearance, including MV Gerhard and Matt Verboys of La-La Land, Taylor White of Creature Features/Percepto; John Fitzpatrick and Frank K. DeWald of the Rozsa Society, and many others.

Oh yeah, La-La Land is also selling a select batch of CDs at discount prices (tax included and postage free), so come on down and pick up a batch!

The festival has already hosted events with Harry Manfredini and David Shire (who may still be lurking about.) It would be great to see FSMers here to support the event. Be sure and let us know if you can make it!
