Err, let me see. Oh, yes, it's still pissing down. It's days like these where I'm glad I retired.

In addition to the massive snow fall which is causing chaos here in Southern and Eastern Norway at the moment, temps are expected to plummet this weekend. On Saturday, when we're supposed to have a big extended family gathering, temps are expected to reach -26 C. THAT'S MINUS 26 DEGREES C! Or MINUS 15 F. Fuck me.

Yeah, I think my record is -37 or thereabouts; which was many years ago, at the top of Norway by the Russian border. But it's rare for those temperatures to appear here down south. Either way, I'm glad I have a good jacket that can sustain such temperatures. Otherwise, I'll have to slay a tauntaun. big grin

It's now 8°C/46°F here, but heavy rain and heavy wind... tonight, the wind pushed through our area, I was worried about our trees. Well, at least it's not boring anymore.

Yeah, wow, that's cold... I think the coldest temperature I have ever experienced in Germany was -19°C/-2°F. And that was already very cold. But that was an exception, winter here rarely goes below -5°C/ 23°F. That's about as cold as it gets here.

I've always found that a bit strange, since the latitude isn't THAT much more extreme up here than in the UK or Germany. Yet the weather difference is so huge. Oh well, I'm not a meteorologist, so I don't know the nuts and bolts of this.

I think it's something to do with the Jet Stream. It was sunny when I got up around 10, but it's dark & raining now.

The Gulf stream is streaming right past us too, creating these wonderful summers and whatnot (the best summers in the world, if you ask me!). Yet the winters are so much more "arctic" than most of the continent otherwise.

Last night, we set a new cold record in Oslo - went below -30 C (-22 F) for the first time ever. It was the first time in many years I couldn't have a window open while sleeping. Incidentally, the Norwegian alltime record is -51.4 C (-60.5 F), set in Karasjok way up north, in 1886.

From what I've read, these snow and cold records recently are weather coming in from Siberia, and things going on at the North Pole.

Not as cold here as Thor's area, but it hit 0 degrees today. Up to 4 degrees now. Hope this cold spell moves on soon. Just praying my furnace doesn't break down.

A heavy dusting all day today in the Washington, DC suburbs. I took this photo while riding home on the Silver Line Metrorail in Falls Church, Va. I was the only person in the train car.

Typical New England weather here….60 and partly sunny last week, raining buckets with 40 mph winds and 50 degrees over the weekend and now 20 degrees, windy and snow/sleet moving in tonight. Wednesday is going to get to 15 degrees as a high. We don’t even blink now when it changes.

Lots of media talk about snow bombs.
But sunny yesterday in South UK.
Sunny today.
Might get some cloud tomorrow but Sunny Thursday "they" say.

"They?! Who in the hell is they?!!!"

We had some snow, over night, around the palace. About 2 inches, when I got up.

You have palaces up north? I thought they had all burned down, fallen over and sunk into the swamp?

Everybody knows north of Watford is a boggy wasteland. Lol

I will have you know I have ridden to Newcastle, Sunderland, Blackburn, Liverpool, York, Manchester, oldham, Tranmere, Derby, Birmingham, Norwich, Peterborough, Bristol and Ipswich. All boggy.

Some were raids on villages, some was tax collection, Royal hunt invites and some jousting tournaments. Would have gone to Sheffield too, but they had the plague.
