I mainly like Supe 2.

But the one thing that I just can't get past is the ending in the diner.
Reeve-Supe would never seek revenge in that way.

I can't remember, was that scene in the Donner Cut?
If it is, then it makes even less sense in the context of having turned back time.

Unfortunately yes, I believe Donner directed that scene. Its so wrong and out of character.

But Octoberman, Reeve-Supe didn't actually do anything, other than call the guy "garbage" (and wasn't he?). Everything that happened to the creep (other than spinning in the chair), happened because of his own actions/behavior. Would the turning-back-time thing have made this guy less of a bully, or changed Clark Kent's knowledge of it.

And Solium, you jokingly say "Zod deserved more than having his hand smashed". Well, didn't he?? I lost count of the deaths he and his thug minions were responsible for (the astronauts, dozens in the army and in the small town) and the unspeakable terror he put the world through. But hurting his wittle-bitty hand and tossing him against a wall is "too extreme", I guess. And even less acceptable because our lord and savior Superman did it. Sheesh.

Maybe I just don't understand this idea of letting despicable people get away with their awful behavior... frown

You make a good point.
Maybe the problem lies with me and the way I perceive Reeve's portrayal of Superman.
It always seemed to me that he would be far more likely to make something a teachable moment for a jerk, and maybe letting the jerk break his fist on Clark's 6-pack and then just throwing him out of the place instead of sending him flying across the counter into the pinball machine.
And the whole "garbage eating garbage" comment seems out of character for Clark's kind heart--why insult the cook?
But you know what? It's a fun scene from a comic book movie. I guess I don't mind it that much.

OMG, I just got caught up in a Nerd War!!!
Timeout Box for Ock!
Bad dog!

No, I'm not for letting despicable people get away doing awful things. The issue I have is Superman in both instances inflicting revenge on his enemies. In both cases he wanted to cause harm and humiliation for his own satisfaction. Its out of character for the Superman I know and grew up with. I like heros who have a firm commitment to their ethics and morality. Sup was not an eye for an eye kinda guy.

Not fighting words, just not in any official cut of the film.

Nerd fighting words...there is a difference. And i wasn’t meaning to be aggressive as the winky at the start of my post implied.

I retrieved my VHS copy of the 1980s broadcast last night and watched it. Indeed, there are three *pixel*-sized characters in the bg. being loaded into a red snow vehicle. I'll take your word for it that they're Zod, Ursa and Non. (Who else would they be?)

I’ve always assumed that this was shot as part of the non-Donner film and they couldn’t be arsed (or didn’t have the money for) paying to get the actual kryptonian trio actors back so had some low rent stand in actors in costume - far enough away that we couldn’t make out actual features.

To be honest - I’ve never really understood the fan love of this film as, even as a kid, it seemed pretty second rate to me.

Awful film with campy villains. It's what you expect a Superhero film to be like in the 70's. Its everything the first wasn't.

Well, on that, we totally agree!

Shouldn't Wonder Woman be played by a woman that at least looks like an Amazon?

Soundtrack cd's should be shelved alphabetically, BY FRANCHISE NAME FIRST.

Therefore, BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES should be in the P's, not the B's.

Why would that be a nerd war starter? That makes complete sense to me - it’s how I’ve always shelved my CDs....

I was going to mention, many on here do indeed shelve franchise titles together! I personally stick to the A,B,C's but that's just me. Though I lump my animation scores and television scores separately.

File music C.D.s by the composer's first name, not by last name.
