I thought you'd likely had that Toho Music set. I mentioned "The Human Vapor" being included on the Columbia set to provide an example of how comprehensive the set is. Cues from the film were used in "Ultraman", so I think it's neat to have the score included with the set. There's no need to purchase the score if one doesn't have it or having dig out any of the releases of it (for those who do have it) in order to listen to the cues used in the series. Everything is already conveniently there on the set for anyone who purchases it. As for the Toho Music set, my favorite score of the three is "Secret of the Telegian". I've been tracking down a copy of the SLC release of the score, but I have yet to come across a copy that still has the obi. It's funny that you mentioned "The H-Man", as I've been eyeing at a copy of the SLC release! There is a crack in the case, but it has the obi and is still housed in the original shrink wrap (though unsealed). Indeed. The Toho set is truly aces, but I do enjoy having the separate releases when possible and/or convenient. Also, it is easier to sort the individual scores in ones collection as you can well imagine.

There are two ULTRA-Q single CD releases. You can never get everything. You just have to expect to have missing spots in your music library. There have been just too many releases! Tell me about it! I believe even King Records or Columbia (I can't remember which label anymore) released an "Ultra Q" set in the early '90s. Not only that, but Columbia released several single disc albums for the Ultra series, including "Ultra Q". Between the Ultra series albums released by VAP, Columbia and King Records, it's sometimes hard to keep track of everything. Near impossible I'd say, but that's not going to stop us

Congrats - those releases are true gems! Thanks! I would have preferred getting the original 1988 release of Complete recordings 8, but issues are practically identical. If all goes well, I plan on more Futureland purchases. Both are apparently still available here - and "Telegian" is sealed! http://www.amazing-toy.com/tokusatucd1.html I completely forgot about that site! Thanks for reminding me. I'll check to see if I can use a proxy service there. Good luck with the H-Man. If a proxy service is available, could you please let us know*? Thanks. * With the proviso that you have first dibs on everything.

Indeed. The Toho set is truly aces, but I do enjoy having the separate releases when possible and/or convenient. Also, it is easier to sort the individual scores in ones collection as you can well imagine. I actually prefer having the scores released separately. I'm not a terribly big fan of having multiple scores clumped together when they easily warrant stand-alone releases, though there are some exceptions, such as film series. Near impossible I'd say, but that's not going to stop us The best and easiest thing to do is forget that all of the past releases exist and instead focus on the recent Columbia sets. Good luck with the H-Man. If a proxy service is available, could you please let us know*? Thanks. * With the proviso that you have first dibs on everything. Thanks! I'm not sure when I'll snag "The H-Man", but it should be soon. As for using a proxy service, it seems that none can be used for that particular site unfortunately. However, copies of "Secret of the Telegian" do pop up at Yahoo Japan Auction. In fact, there is a copy listed right now, though it doesn't have the obi. Me having first dibs, huh? That wouldn't be fair, but to hell with that! Life isn't fair! HAHAHA!

H-MAN is one of my favorites, with the bloop-ping effects and the nightclub music. I also enjoy the night club music (it struck me as something very different back in the day, having seen only about a half dozen Godzilla films by that time (around 1977). The blooping effects are very striking and eerie. Adds immeasurably to the overall atmosphere.

Speaking of the SLC albums, they have always been an enigma for me. I'm never sure to use the original Japanese titles for the albums or the English titles seen on the booklet covers. Yes, it's unusual that they included the English titles - not only on the booklets, but also on the obis and jewel case spines. Of course, in the case of "Matango", SLC used the international English title rather than the dubious "Attack of the Mushroom People", as it was called in the States. The above Futureland set also features the English titles on the the jewel case spines and the disc labels (based on the American movie poster type designs, no less). By the way, I've purchased Complete Recordings: Akira Ifukube Special Effects Film Music Toho·Daiei Edition (TYCY-5215·16), Godzilla Complete Works Collection 1 - Godzilla (TYCY-5345) and Godzilla Complete Works Collection 15 - Mechagodzilla's Counterattack (TYCY-5359). Nice! The Godzilla discs are essential and the Toho-Daiei set has some rare material (including "The Whale God" and "Adventures of Taklamakan"). The stereo version of "King Kong vs Godzilla" on the Toho-Daiei set is an interesting listen, though I feel the mono mix is far superior.

I noticed that with the SLC albums. It's like they're Japanese issues of Western releases. Yep, the Futureland set does indeed have the English titles here and there, but they at least have consistent album titles. Nice! The Godzilla discs are essential and the Toho-Daiei set has some rare material (including "The Whale God" and "Adventures of Taklamakan"). I've always been on the fence with the stereo version of "King Kong vs. Godzilla". I love the immersive depth it has, and I can discern some of the instruments more clearly, such as the pizzicato strings in "King Kong Transport Operation" (DB-12 M-27). On the other hand, it's way too bass heavy. The Godzilla Complete Works Collection albums are indeed essential.
