Being reading this board for over a decade but first time I have posted here, just had to give my condolences to MV. I’m from the UK, don’t know MV personally, but I have a lot of respect for him and the guys at Lalaland, (Great label). Real shame what has happened, however the main thing is that he and his family are safe. All the best.

MV, you've always been kind and good natured, and a force for good in this community. This is heartbreaking to hear. My heart goes out to you. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. You have my deepest sympathy, and I hope and pray you can land on your feet quickly. Blessings to you and your family.

Terrible news. The only good news is that MV and his family are safe. I wish them well, and everyone else affected by these fires too, of course.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your home, but I'm grateful that you and your family are safe.

You are loved and valued so much by this community, MV, and my thoughts are with you and your family during this very difficult time.

I have set up a Go Fund Me page to collect donations from the film score community that I will send to them.

Here is the link if you are interested in helping out:

https://www.gofundme.com/GerhardFire

Thanks for starting this Jason. If everyone who loves LLLCDs can donate the cost of a single CD to this fund we can really show our support to a fellow fan and friend in need!

Will these be combined into one?

Unknown, but the latter one (the one Blake Neely set up) is the officially sanctioned one

I had no idea, as I don't use facebook. My thoughts and sympathy are with you. My sincerest wishes to you, your family and friends as you navigate the next weeks and months. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it isn't much; but at least, may you take some comfort in knowing that you and your family are in the thoughts and hearts of many people; as you have made us all very joyful over the years with the remarkable soundtrack releases!

That is perfect.

Alternatively, couldn't we also offer to send MV copies of scores he lost in the fire? I did that a page or two back with a title.

I'm worried -- will this mean the end of La La Land Records? A family to feed and house, every single possession lost, is it even financially possible to keep the label in business now?

Whichever you donate to the funds will go to MV. Helping rebuild his film score collection sounds like a great idea too. No wrong way to help out.

A family to feed and house, every single possession lost, is it even financially possible etc etc etc

Assuming fire insurance, it's not starting from scratch. But the time period BEFORE an insurance payout, as well as the cost of rebuilding a home and a life, is still an insanely costly situation beyond what insurance covers.

I will note that while I don't know the whole story behind this comment, anybody who donated to Jason's posted fundraiser should know that he wouldn't fleece MV or you.

Meaning everybody should count their blessings in life

Exactly. By the way, anybody who takes advantage of this satiation, should be permabanned. Just sayin'.

There are three separate GoFundMe pages devoted to the cause in one way or another.

The one started by Jason LeBlanc to directly benefit the Gerhards: https://www.gofundme.com/GerhardFire

Jason will collect donations and send to MV and his wife (or however that works).

The one started by composer Blake Neely to directly benefit the Gerhards:
https://www.gofundme.com/mv-and-family

See above.

The one started by Michael's wife, Deion, for the benefit of their son and daughter-in-law, who also lost everything in the fire but didn't have insurance: https://www.gofundme.com/4taikpk

When she posted this on Facebook she said that a good way to help them would be to help their kids (via donations to this link).

Donations to any or all of these pages will help, I'm sure.
