Hope I'm not stepping on any toes by posting this (if I am I'll take it down), but for anyone who isn't on Facebook, MV Gerhard posted that his house was destroyed by the wildfires currently raging in Ventura County, CA. Family, thank goodness, is safe.

MV, it's not much from a distance but I wanted to offer my thoughts and well wishes in what I'm sure is a very difficult time for you and your family.

We bitch and moan about so many petty things around here but I hope the occasional glimpses into the fragility of our existence helps put things into perspective and reminds us that, in the end, we really only have the people with whom we surround ourselves.*

With that in mind, MV, I hope you know you have a whole community here who supports you and would be happy to help in any way once you get re-settled. Please let us know how things are going.

* Except Rutherford

EDIT TO REPOST GOFUND ME DONATION LINKS FROM BELOW:

There are now two separate GoFundMe pages devoted to the cause in one way or another.

The one started by composer Blake Neely to directly benefit the Gerhards:
https://www.gofundme.com/mv-and-family

The one started by Michael's wife, Deion, for the benefit of their son and daughter-in-law, who also lost everything in the fire but didn't have insurance: https://www.gofundme.com/4taikpk

When she posted this on Facebook she said that a good way to help them would be to help their kids (via donations to this link).

Donations to either or both of these pages will help, I'm sure.

The page started by Jason LeBlanc has been closed to avoid confusion with Blake Neely's page. See Jason's post below for further info.

Oh my, that is really awful. Yes, of course, the most important thing is that everybody is safe, but losing one's home is devastating. I'm about twenty miles south of the fires (a very safe distance), and the smoke in the air is choking even from here. But I will stop complaining to my friends about the air quality, as this brings home just how lucky I am.

Wishing MV all the best in a terrible situation.

My God. I could see and smell the smoke on my way to Fox this morning.

So very sorry to hear this, MV. Words aren't much comfort, and I can barely imagine what you and your family must be dealing with, especially just ahead of Christmas. But, know that us fans of your work hope this tragedy passes quickly, you rebuild even better, and take some solace in that no one was hurt.

Oh no!

My sincerest wishes for your well-being MV! I hope everyone is O.K. and that not all belongings are completely lost.

Even if it's "only" material (thank the universe), i can only imagine how terrible this feels. My condolences and much, much positive energy from Switzerland!!!

Very best wishes,

Burnie

I saw the news about the wildfires online and mentally registered these seem to be a constant menace for the LA region as a whole these days - their frequency of occurrence is morbid.

No, I couldn't begin to imagine what recovering from such a disaster would be like. The most important thing, though, is to be alive, because tomorrow is another day.

Oh no. The last place I lived in California had nearly burnt down the year before we moved there, but I've never known anyone who was ever displaced by this. I'm so sorry if what is rumored is true. Hug that family tight, MV. You can crash here whenever you like.

Personal tragedy just as you reach a professional peak with your record company. My condolences.

All my best wishes for MV and his family. I'm not sure if I've ever expressed how much his label's releases mean to me -- the 3-disc Star Trek the Motion Picture and the Star Trek: Original Series boxed-set are among my most treasured possessions.
