Yes it must...because 3 years ago I was going to do a new complete recording of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS but was put of doing so by Intrada as they were going to issue "the ultimate" Ten Commandments set. Wish I had gone ahead with the recording now.

This is the saddest thing I've read all year! Do the Re-Recording! I ALWAYS prefer Tadlow re-recordings to the original. They're unique as far as re-recordings go because they're always true to the original form and the sound quality is a million times better. Do it James! DO IT!!!!

We have one that goes back to 2008!

As with all the studios we work with, we would come up with an initial "Top 10 titles" we wanted to release. Once we started working with one of these studios, we thought title #5 would be fairly easy to clear, but it wasn't. We kept starting and stopping... putting it off due to legal complications. Then, in the Summer of 2012, we got the go ahead to go full steam ahead with this project. We planned on having out it for Black Friday 2012. HOWEVER, a huge monkey wrench was thrown into our plans once again so we had to delay the release until the powers that be finally worked out all the details that were never worked out.

Now, this year, I am happy to say all details have been worked out. This Black Friday that coveted title of ours is finally coming out.

So, 4 years of starts and stops followed by two more years of waiting for approval! lol

I purchase all BH CDs, so bring 'em on! I don't think I would want another NORTH BY NW, however.

Well I'm not doing NNW ... but OBSESSION complete.... while another label will be issuing the original tracks. However, I might well do both a stereo and surround sound mix as this would really be good for the organ and choir bits...

Hopefully people will like the new recording as I will be using slightly larger forces than Herrmann used...rather than 4 hours...which Herrmann was not too happy with, apparently .. I will be using 8 horns stereo split 4 and 4 as well as stereo violins, stereo harps etc...

But just last week, somebody here groused that nobody had bothered with this score!

I can only imagine how frustrating the concurrence of the original with your rerecording is for you. Rest assured, I will buy both. (So there's $20 back right there!)

And take that your 4th player James, (or in your case 8th), won't be on the sauce, as in the OST version? That story is documented in Steven Smith' s hermann biography and those flubs stick out like a sore thumb. I'm actually more excited at this news than mono or possible music stem restoration. ...bring em on!!!

I will buy both, James. One from Tadlow and one from the other label. Now the only "unknown" is the Rozsa score. James, you have made the weekend once again very interesting on this message board. Thanks.

I'm with many others on this thread in that I'm a Herrmann "completest" and will buy anything that is recorded that this man wrote. I would like to see "Endless Night" (of which note one note has been released) and a re-recording of "The Bride Wore Black", which, as I understand it, was mutilated by Truffaut even more than "Fahrenheit" was.....and listening to the Tribute Film Classics recording we realized that roughly 1/4 of Herrmann's score was either thrown out or completely re-arranged by Truffaut.......so I can just imagine was "Bride Wore Black" is like.....

This is the best news of the year, James! I will buy more than one copy of your rerecording, as well as the original tracks on the other CD. I wonder if the other CD will be the complete score, or just the standard 38 minute edit?

I may have helped this score return to the marketplace, having just bought a copy of the old Canadian Varese CD on sale from SAE. I am delighted by all of this.

Well, MV said in this very thread that it's not happening. You'll unfortunately have to just move on.

From what I've read on this board,

James Fitzpatrick - marvelous news. "Obsession" is my #1 favorite score of all-time and has been for all of my adult life. I will buy your recording as well as the original tracks. I CANNOT WAIT! Hope you have a marvelous experience recording it.
