FYI Approximately 25:17 minutes of the disc consists of interview.
That still leaves more than 46 minutes of score (Intrada's site time the CD at 72:00) which is more than enough. I don't remember the score for the film at all, and I only watched it a couple of weeks ago.
It's a release that is clearly not geared towards the film music prig. Ryan Ah! I see! A release of film music that's deliberately NOT geared towards people who like music?
Leaving aside the obvious jibes against your least-favourite composer - this could start a whole new trend.
And could also explain why they haven't put up any samples. I want to hear what "Non-Prig" music sounds like.
I looked everywhere, this title has disappeared as fast as a (let's say!) bullet! Wanted to order it this morning, looked later today and......gone! Did I really miss something, is this score really worth buying? I wander!
Anyway I guess Ebay will be the only place now, Brrrrrrrrrrrr...
I'm at the halfway point. I'll Post more after I've finished it. But, if you were not a fan of the more atmospheric scores, I would say you could just pass on this title.
For me, I'm rather enjoying it right now as I type this.
Later, two CDs entitled The Film Music of Jim Manzie, presenting music from around 20 films, will come out. Perseverance will also release Charles Bernstein’s orchestral music from Deadly Friend, the 1986 horror flick that had an electronic score soundtrack issued from Varèse Sarabande at the time of the film’s release. This CD, which is coming out in March, also features a 35-minute interview with Charles Bernstein and the film’s director, Wes Craven.

Really good score. Very creepy. Sounds very much like the kind of horror scores we get today. Dissonant synth textures and samples. Sounds just like Tyler's Dawn of the Dead or Jablowski's new TCM (which is not nearly as good!) Very good sound quality and excellent liner notes. Very insightful.
Also noticed that Manzie had actually sampled some of Hooper's "score" to the original TCM and uses it here. The classic piercing "flash bulb" sound effect also used in the trailer for the remake of TCM can be heard a few times on this CD, mostly in the first few tracks. Cool!
This score really doesen't sound dated or cheesy like some might expect. It's really a forrunner to the kind of creepy scores we get these days. Manzie was quite ahead of his time!
Nice pic of the composer with Vincent Price on the inlay.
10 years later, this CD is still available at Perseverance's website. I bought it upon its release and was underwhelmed at first, but it's grown on me over the years and now it's one of my favorite horror scores. Spinning it again right now, I'm impressed by how interesting and diverse Manzie's compositions and orchestrations are and by the gravitas he was able to evoke from the synths at his disposal. Without deserting the dark and ominous sonic landscape, Manzie provides enough musical and emotional variety to make for an engaging listen from beginning to end. Not a small feat. And I'm not a big fan of audio interviews being included on soundtrack CDs, but Manzie here is a hoot.
It is a unique score and Manzie is very creative. I bought the score CD back in '07 since the film director (Jeff Burr) and I grew up in the same small town and I caught up with him a few times right after he made this film. He had great praise for Manzie and had used him for his previous 2 features and Pumpkinhead II. So had to check it out.
I'll be listing my copy of the CD (like new) on ebay shortly along with the rest of my personal collection (moving on from disc media). I should list it for less than $21.95 (like perserverance is listing).
