I just noticed that Perseverance has released the score to the 3rd enstallment to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Music by Jim Manzie. I think it's great to see these limited releases from obscure film composers. I love horror scores, so I blindly placed an order.

I'm sure this means that Charles Bernstein's DEADLY FRIEND is not far behind.

Another 500 copy release? That's to low! If they can't do at least 1000 I say forget it. Anyway, I don't care for horror/slasher movies, so I'll be passing on this one.

No, really! Thumbs UP! To lambast an obscure release because its print run is too low is ridiculous. At least those who enjoy this stuff can finally have it.

I bet the 500 estimate is actually pretty accurate. It's the ebay gougers that will move it too quickly.

Do you mean that if it were 1000-limited you would have bought it??? Insane...

Well put.

I have no interest in this score but kudos for the label for "taking the risk" in releasing it.

FYI
Approximately 25:17 minutes of the disc consists of interview.

Not a complaint,
just an FYI for those wanting to know how much of the 72 minute disc time is not score.
A generous amount of music to be sure.

That would be insane -- but that isn't what I said. I wouldn't have bought it either way, simply because I don't like horror movies.

WHY after all the work put into production, creating artwork, etc and manufacture ONLY 500 copies?? How many copies have to be sold simply to recoup what was spent to put the CD out? I thought that number was MORE than a measly 500 copies.

eBay gougers? On THIS title? Are you mad?

Limited edition of 500? I'm in!

But wait! "Leatherface"? Jim Manzie?

Err.. um... pass.

But I see they've made sure this title will sell out fast...

...by not including any sound samples!

Now I'll go to my grave wondering whether I missed out on a film score masterpiece.

Oh, and "eBay gougers"? Good luck to 'em shifting this!

We'll probably never know, but 500 copies at $18.50 makes a turnover of $9250. Maybe it's pretty cheap to produce a CD these days.

Try telling Disney that.

So is this orchestral or electronic?

Perhaps! But there is something of a fanbase for this sort of material, and you can bet that once it's down to the last 100, it'll be like ringing the dinner bell.

BTW, I'm gonna bet this puppy is not orchestral.

LEATHERFACE: TCsM III is no film music masterpiece, but the TCsM series has a cult following. The 500 copies will no doubt quickly sell to fans of the film. It's a release that is clearly not geared towards the film music prig.
