According to reports on Facebook, composer-conductor Dominic Frontiere passed away on December 21st at the age of 86.

I recall his music for the western Hang'Em High and the John Wayne pictures Brannigan and Chisum.

Oh my...another "great one" has passed on. This makes me sooo sad. I really enjoyed all his work and especially his compositions for "The Outer Limits" and "Twelve O'Clock High (tv)". I hope Jerry has greeted him at the Pearly Gates and that he's pointed out the best grand piano up there. Vale Frontiere...

RIP.

Here is the opening track from Frontiere's amazing homage to The Great Les Baxter: "Pagan Festival."

RIP Mr. Frontiere.

I remember seeing Color Of Night at the cinema in 1994 and liking the score.

THE OUTER LIMITS sounds haunt me to this day.

Should have been nominated for THE STUNT MAN.

Thanks for all the music!

Barquero was always my favourite frontiere western. I preferred it to hang em high. In fact i enjoyed the van cleef film more.
On LP i had his washington behind closed doors tv drama, which was great, terrific main theme.

Morricone is right - that Outer limits stuff was top notch.

Left a good body of work. His family can be proud of him.

I can still hear that "Da da da de dum...da..da..dadda...daaaaa!" of "Hang 'em High" in my head every time I think of that great movie! Frontiere was brilliant!

Oh I forgot about that. I loved that theme as a youngster. To me it signified the good life and being wealthy, etc... (I was pretty poor as a youngster!). The faster tempo of the ongoing series was just as good:

Dominic Frontiere was one of the greatest 1960's composers for television:

Stoney Burke
The Outer Limits
Twelve O'Clock High
Branded
The Rat Patrol
The Invaders

His music was constantly tracked during the fourth season of The Fugitive.

I’m not sure how much music he wrote for it, but I always regret that there’s never been an outing for his work on Freebie and the Bean. RIP Mr Frontiere.

Such a marvelous composer and such wonderful music. Don't Go to Sleep. The Stunt Man. The theme from "Vegas". Color of Night. He will be missed.

Though he didn't have many label releases, I'm glad there were a few including the LLL Outer Limits set. Still a great collection.

RIP.

Always loved this theme and show. It's a very sad reflection of the current culture that this type of theme music is null and void. And what themes you might get now are 10 second pcs of ?%#*+=!! (With the nice exception of some British dramas).
