There is no full composer listing for the show yet anywhere online. What is on IMDb, is what has been found so far. I've been trying to solve the credit for each episode on my now defunct site (tvscoring.150m.com -- the host provider shut and never said anything in advance). What I have from my efforts so far is: Leith Stevens, R.I.P. (1, so far) Jerry Goldsmith, R.I.P. (1, so far) Fred Steiner, R.I.P. (9, so far) Russell Garcia, R.I.P. (1, so far) Dimitri Tiomkin, R.I.P. (1, so far) Nathan Scott, R.I.P. (4 or 5, so far) Leon Klatzkin, R.I.P. (7, so far) Richard Shores, R.I.P. (2, so far) Rudy Schrager, R.I.P. (15) Gerald Fried (2, so far) Paul Sawtell, R.I.P. (1, so far) Lyn Murray (2, so far) Johnny Green, R.I.P. (1, so far) Billy May, R.I.P. (1, so far) Bernard Herrmann, R.I.P. (2, so far) Hugo Friedhofer, R.I.P. (1, so far) Harry Geller (1, so far) Granted, that above listing is probably a little over a year out of date. I don't remember where I found this information, but I have Tiomkin marked down for an uncredited score to the season four episode "A Woman's Place". Stock music by Herrmann was also tracked into thirty or thirty-one episodes, almost exclusively ones that had not credited composer. Season seven and season eight are the only seasons I finished. The following composers may have contributed material or just had library music of other efforts tracked in: Howard Jackson Bernhard Kaun Robert Drasnin Wilbur Hatch Lucien Moraweck Jerome Moross, R.I.P. Marlin Skiles Don Ray, R.I.P. Martin L. Klein William Grant Still, R.I.P. Willaim Lava, R.I.P. Leonard Rosenman, R.I.P. Daniele Amfitheatrof, R.I.P. Marius Constant Laurence Rosenthal Ernest Gold, R.I.P. Nathan Van Cleave Sol Kaplan

Basil Wrathbone Why has there never been a Rawhide soundtrack CD ? I'm interested in hearing the actual, original recordings, NOT cover versions. I always liked the secondary theme, often used behind Gil Favor's introductory dialog and other wide-open-spaces scenes. Here it appears most clearly between 1:36 and 2:10. Because it was a regular theme, I assumed it was by Tiomkin, but maybe not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdagDp0K0pM Okay, I've listened a few times to the secondary theme. It's spirited and way western, but it doesn't sound like Tiomkin. Tiomkin's western scores sound like no one else's. There is a thematic consistency from one western score to another, from High Noon to Rawhide to The Alamo etc. I wonder if research at CBS would turn up some more work by Tiomkin. I'd like to hear an instrumental of the main title song without Laine and chorus crushing it. My thanks to mgh, filmusicnow, Justin Boggan, Basil and everyone for contributing your thoughts on Rawhide. Perhaps some label will look into the archives and find some tapes to release. The scores are of value apart from and despite Frankie Laine.
