3 HOMMES À ABATTRE (THREE MEN TO KILL) • LE GITAN (THE GYPSY) Two Original Motion Picture Soundtracks Music Composed and Conducted by Claude Bolling Expanded and remastered edition. 65 minutes of music, including 45 minutes of music never released before. 8-page CD booklet with French and English liner notes by Gilles Loison. Limited Edition of 300 units. Ref: MBR-113 Release Date: In Stock In collaboration with Gruppo Sugar and Musiques & Solutions, Music Box Records is pleased to present on the same CD the expanded original motion picture soundtracks composed and conducted by Claude Bolling. Alain Delon starred in and co-produced the two films: Le Gitan (The Gypsy, 1975) and 3 hommes à abattre (Three Men to Kill, 1980). For 3 hommes à abattre directed by his long-time collaborator Jacques Deray, Claude Bolling composed one of his most ambitious works in cinema. For this modern urban thriller, he wrote a neo-classical score with serious and aching lyricism. A feeling of unease and threat dominates the score, which still allows for a few sentimental moments associated with the lead female character. For Le Gitan, French director José Giovanni wanted a theme inspired by Django Reinhardt. He met the young composer Lick on the shooting of his film and asked him to compose the heart-breaking song (O Sinto). Alain Delon, who was co-editor of the film’s music, asked Claude Bolling to supervise the recording of the song and compose the second theme (Cousin Django). This present edition has been fully remastered from the session tapes and includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Gilles Loison, discussing the films and the scores. Besides, I wish MBR will go on releasing the music of this talented and multifold composer. If the rights can be cleared, there is no problem whatsoever because Bolling has kept copies of all his mastertapes in his own archive. Hi, Laurent78. Would you happen to know if Mr. Bolling's tape archive extends back to the early 1960s? I'm curious to learn if sound elements exist on Ladies Man (1960), The Hands of Orlac ('60), The World in My Pocket ('61), The Day and the Hour ('63) or Web of Fear ('64). [I recall FSM's Anabel Boyer mentioning several years ago about a possible release on The Day and the Hour, but this doesn't seem to have ever materialized...]

But I can definitely remember he has filed all his tapes on shelves in a very rigorous manner and I suppose he has at least the EP tapes of these old soundtracks you mentioned. All I know is that whenever his material is needed for CD's, it's most of the time available directly from him. Thanks for the info! I hope there's more music available than the contents of those EPs. Whatever exists, though, let's hope an album producer has an interest in such.
