...I dont know the film, but from your description of the scene, is the music a re-edit of earlier cues (that is, re-used), or an original cue? If a re-edit, that might explain it's absence from the CD

Thanks Last Child. I know this soundtrack well and unfortunately this is not the case.

Just for clarification, are you saying the missing minute from the CD is on the blu-ray music track but has effects?

Btw, are the source cues complete on the blu-ray music track, or edited according to their duration in the film?

I really can't respond to this stuff anymore - it's all in the other thread, I believe. The iso track on the blu-ray is taken from the same tape as the CD. Any other music is from the music and effects tracks. Do you think Mike Matessino would have left off music that was sans effects? He's pretty good at what he does, you know, so why don't we all just be thankful that Len Engel had this tape and that this release was even possible.

Because there are too many dips that hang out here.

Bruce, I was addressing Foxturo (who started this discussion about the missing minute), but of course anyone with the blu-ray can respond. I wasnt pursuing the missing minute, and as you say, Mike M. would have included whatever was on hand (which isnt to say there might be more music elsewhere on the planet).

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't what we call "the Len Engel Collection" just copies of whatever tapes he snuck out of the studios for his own personal use? Meaning it's not exactly a curated, official archive, just some illicitly taken tapes that fortuitously still exist now that the studios are willing to license this stuff. In which case, it's not terribly surprising that these tapes might not be complete.

I don't know about the overall contents of what he had or what was on the tapes, but I remember an interview that talked about how he got them:

Sneaky guy. If only he had worked at other places across the seas where tapes were thrown out. At the time, he may have been a bad guy had they found out, today he's a hero for what he saved.

Hi,

I did not mean to upset anyone. I just found it peculiar the way I was replied to. People make mistakes, and that is the only thing I implied by my comment. If I ofended you Bruce, or Mike Matessino, I apologize.

On the other hand, I did read, a while back, in an interview to Mancini himself, that he had copies of the some of his scores, including TWO FOR THE ROAD. In fact he said this one was his favorite. I certainly would keep a copy if this was my favorite creation. I do hope his family releases it someday, hopefully in stereo.

Regards to all.

You don't offend me. Not possible. You also make endless assumptions and speculations, for what reason I have no idea. You think Mancini's family is holding onto a stereo tape of Two for the Road? You don't think that's been checked on?
