Surprised to see a music track on Two for the Road, as we have been told, several times, that it was lost.

Wow. Without "effects," even. How great would it have been if it were in stereo.

I believe Intrada were interested in an original tracks release of Two For The Road at one time but couldn't find elements...

Which one of us will ask the inevitable question?

Two for The Road by Mancini, how long I have hoped for a release of the actual film tracks on CD. Maybe now it'll never happen because of this DVD release with the isolated music score. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not into buying costly DVDs just to get the isolated tracks. I already have a DVD of Two for The Road.

Surely a CD release of the original tracks is now possible?. Is this one on any label's radar?

No one is sorrier than I am about the original tracks of this master score.

The original masters are nowhere to be found. I asked Nick a month or so back and he told me the isolated tracks come from a variety of sources, but not the recording master.

So basically it's another Moby Dick situation. That's a real shame.

That's fair enough then. Maybe the original tracks will 'turn up' sometime in the future. I hope I'll be around, lol!

"Breakfast At Tiffany's" also came form a variety of sources - and it still is a great release. A compromised release of "Two For The Road" still is better than no release at all...

I'm still holding on to hopes for a CD release. The tracks are deemed good enough for the blu-ray and mastering techniques have advanced significantly in recent years......fingers crossed.....

So I bought the Bluray with the Isolated Music Track. Unfortunately not all tracks are sound effect free. Actually, I bought this Bluray because the soundtrack released by Kritzerland is missing one track from Henry Mancini's score (not to mention the tunes played on radios, restaurants and parties through the film).

I wrote Kritzerland about it and they replied to me that it was all there. I had to email back attaching the sample of the one minute missing piece, to which they replied again with the following:

«If that was missing from our release it wasn't on the tape from the Len Engel collection - it's that simple. There were no alternate sources and we don't put out CDs with effects tracks tied to the music.»

No hello, nor goodbye!!!

The missing track I am talking about is the following: if you recall the film, there is a scene before the very last one (when they are about to cross the border). The scene I am talking about is where you see a quick sequence of all the "eras" of Mark and Joanna Wallace's story. You may recall this by the fact that there is a round-about and the red convertible splits in two cars. That is the one musical sequence I am referring to.

I wonder if anyone knows how to get in touch with Len Engle to see if it really missing or some technician at Kritzerland simply forgot to include it.

Kind regards to all.

I dont know the film, but from your description of the scene, is the music a re-edit of earlier cues (that is, re-used), or an original cue? If a re-edit, that might explain it's absence from the CD (which I do have).
As you may have experienced, there are many discrepancies like this between the TT music/music fx tracks and CD releases. And sometimes the music is available but missing from the CD release (which has happened with most labels - nobody's perfect).

It will be fairly difficult to get in touch with Leonard Engle.....he died in 1988.

Thanks Last Child. I know this soundtrack well and unfortunately this is not the case.

Thanks Manderley

Do you know who owns Leonard Engel collection now? maybe I can write to them.

Or any info anyone can provide to have this soundtrack released as it should be, for that matter. Regards

Perhaps this is why you don't get a hello and goodbye - because your post kind of reeks with attitude and is accusatory. Kritzerland didn't "forget" to include anything and your implying that is offensive. Some "technician"? You mean the great Mike Matessino? Is that what you mean? If there is a single cue missing of one-minute duration it's because the only tape for this score was in the Len Engel collection and thank goodness it was there - and as someone suggests, the cue you reference may, if fact, be some rejiggered earlier cues, or simply that for whatever reason it didn't make it onto Mr. Engel's tape. I kind of doubt that, BTW.

And yes, Mr. Engel died in 1988, but perhaps you can reach him in heaven. Seriously, I just scratch my head sometimes. No hello or goodbye indeed. I answered your questions - several times. Did I need to take you to dinner, too?

Just for clarification, are you saying the missing minute from the CD is on the blu-ray music track but has effects?

Btw, are the source cues complete on the blu-ray music track, or edited according to their duration in the film?
