Just when I thought they couldn't possibly top last year's Black Friday batch...

Naturally, this is the year I've moved out on my own and begun using my finances for things *other than* soundtracks... This better still be around in January haha!

Seriously, between this, The Ten Commandments, The Rocketeer, Starship Troopers and both Blue Lagoons, this year may be my favorite year for soundtrack expansions EVER!

Oh wow! What a way to end the year! JP was my first ever soundtrack purchase. Dream come true to get it expanded and remastered particularly after just seeing Jurassic Park Live performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra!!

It wasn't my first soundtrack but I remember playing it on cassette endlessly and it was one of the scores which really got me into orchestral music, impossible to articulate how much this music means to me. And I saw it live at the Royal Albert Hall recently too, I'd always been a little dubious of live to projection concerts but it was an absolutely incredible experience. Thanks for this La La Land, I'll be ordering it the second it goes on sale!

what is the STALLNG AROUND track on JP album?

It wasn't on the original album, but it was featured on the 20th Anniversary album, available only as a digital download, along with 3 other tracks: The History Lesson, The Coming Storm and the exciting cue Hungry Raptors.

Oh, boy! smile

Will definitely buy.

Question time, however:

This looks like it's pretty close to a complete and chronological release. What do people with more familiarity with the scores say?

The first one looks complete indeed but if I remember correctly the film version of The Hunt was quite different (and perhaps also longer) than the album version.

But yeah, this is definitely a must buy! Jurassic Park was my very first film score, really looking forward to this release.

In the film it's a tracked editorial mess. Williams' original composition for the sequence is on this release and the original album.

Excellent releases indeed, but sorry, a little expensive for dinosaurs at the Mo, for me, the original cd's are ok for now, however it does look a fantastic box set, well-done La-La. Thanks.

If there's an eventual sale on JP, its still around, I'll buy it. Thank you.

I'm overjoyed with this release, particularly as I've never owned the "Lost World" sequel score.

There wasn't much that was being speculated that interested me, but it seems like this one came out of nowhere.

This is great. I have the OST of The Lost World and I've always found the sound too low.

Also I wonder why they didn't include the third film in this collection?

They're advertising it quite prominently as "The JOHN WILLIAMS Jurassic Park Collection".

Last I heard, Don Davis scored JPIII.

I reckon that's why. smile

Looks like a splendid release... very nice cover, probably very good booklet... I am tempted... though the original soundtracks as they were released back in its day are very good contentwise, and while neither complete nor chronological, they have an excellent musical flow.

I'm in the same boat. While I can't stand the way Williams rearranges his music into special album compositions (I like scores to be in their original on-screen order), the 20th Anniversary JP score is only a minute or so shorter. For me personally, that means I'd be paying $60 for an expanded LOST WORLD score. It just doesn't justify the cost for me, so I'm passing in favor of getting caught up on my wish list backlog...although I might be snagging one or both of the BEVERLY HILLS COP discs...gotta sample them first.

But WOW! This JURASSIC set was truly an out-of-left-field surprise from La-La-Land! I'm sure it'll be a huge hit with lots of people, so it's definitely a winner. big grin

this had been around 40$ for 3 cd-set I'd go for it. But 60$ (+ overseas shipping) paying a full disc price for 14min of "bonus"... quite expensive.

maybe for next year's sale smile
