Oh wow! What a way to end the year! JP was my first ever soundtrack purchase. Dream come true to get it expanded and remastered particularly after just seeing Jurassic Park Live performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra!!
All of that... my first soundtrack and saw it live with the RPO. Almost uncontainable excitement at the prospect (especially after the disappointly half arsed 20th anniversary release). Can't wait.
Great cue sheets, thx Jason. One question: why is the last TLW track crossed out?
Well, I obviously haven't heard it yet, but I'm assuming it's the film edit of the Finale and end credits, which would mean its entirely comprised of material already in prior tracks.
I know the 25th anniversary digital reissue of JP, but I never bought it. I even wonder if I already listened to these BONUS tracks... Well, now that I'm bound to those Expanded Sets, this one will be mine before christmas!
This set I personally must have. Just wondered if Thor will do his usual pass for all things expanded or will be making an exception for what seems to be his all time favorite score?

Wow! This looks like a dream come true for JP and JW fans! I had always imagined a set like this happening one day...
I can't wait to hear the scary male chorus in "The Encased Mosquito," more of the brooding raptor cues omitted from the old MCA CD, and the always fun "Stalling Around." Not to mention an hour of more music from LOST WORLD! Williams created some groovy patterns and syncoptated percussion for the sequel that is uncharacteristic of his usual style, and it's all masterful!
This looks great. Just please tell me the CDs aren't housed in a 3-D popup dinosaur panorama... surely one of the worst packaging decisions in the history of soundtrack releases!
I should have addended that I can't wait to hear it on CD, and not as a download. I never actually purchased the 20th Anniversary download as I find them inferior. Glad I waited!
I wonder if there will be any discussion about how this set came to be, in the form of a podcast or an online interview with the producers, etc? I recall one being done for "Hook" when La La released that one...
Must go faster. The petro-gas the park vehicles use is made from generations of crushed and compacted T-Rex blood and guts, refined to the point it can sort of outrun a T-Rex.
I love Jurassic Park but this is an awful cue imo. comedy music. Sounds as if it comes from a bad 60s TV comedy series.
Isn't it possible that perhaps that was the point?
It's also a source cue since it is the music heard for the cartoon when the characters are on the tour with Dr Hammond. So it isn't really a part of the actual score. It was meant to sound like and parody background music you would hear on an attraction or show at Disneyland or Universal Studios; so the whimisical, light-hearted, zany, kid-friendly and cartoony feel was the intent.
I'll be picking this up eventually, mainly for The Lost World (people like me are probably why they're packaged together, lol). As a Goldsmith nut I can't help it, because I sort of consider this Williams channeling Goldsmith in his linear action writing. Great music!
