Hopefully there will be more analysis books like this fascinating work to come.

It would be especially nice to have an analysis book for "The Omen" to clarify influences and how brilliant it all works.

Other score analysis projects that would no doubt make for fascinating reading:
"The Blue Max"
"Chinatown"
"Alien"
"Star Trek: The Motion Picture"
"Legend"
"Basic Instinct"
"L. A. Confidential"

Think of it as the greatest, thickest, juiciest liner notes ever written.

My thought exactly. Whenever Varese gets around to remastering and reissuing this landmark score -- and the Lawgiver knows they need to (get the book and find out why) -- this author needs to write the liner notes, or just include this book.

Since I've been fielding questions about this, I wanted to let everyone know that Simians & Serialism: A History and Analysis of Jerry Goldsmith's Score to PLANET OF THE APES is currently on sale at www.PithikosEntertainment.com for just $19.95 (+ Shipping/Processing).
