I don't know anything about it either.

So, we solved your tumbleweed problem.

I'm directing this documentary. While I'd love to give you folks some additional information on the project, I'm going to wait until next month, when we begin shooting. Our first interview will feature a very interesting man who knows a great deal about classic cinema and is also a great fan of film scores.

I'm also happy to say that Dorothy Herrmann, Mr. Herrmann's daughter, has agreed to be interviewed for the film, and I greatly look forward to speaking with her in the near future. We have a number of interesting people lined up to speak about their work with Mr. Herrmann and/or their love of his music.

I consulted with Mr. Smith via email prior to starting this project and he was extremely generous in offering advice to me. Down the road, when my team moves to the West coast, I'd love to get an interview with him. I carry my paperback copy of "Heart at Fire's Center" to every production meeting, with its highlighter marks, post-it notes and all. smile

Thanks to those who have supported this project so far. I look forward to showing and telling you more within the next month or so. smile

Wait, Dave... You were mad that no one responded to your initial post after only 65 minutes?

Don;t forget too talk to Howard blake. He knew him later on and even had a story or two to tell in an interview.

And if you need any video footage of the recent recording I did of the complete score for OBSESSION you can certainly use it ... I own the master rights i both audio and video but it would also have to be cleared with the publishers....

Clips from the Tadlow OBSESSION sessions would certainly demonstrate the enduring popularity of maestro Herrmann. I'd like to see clips of it in the upcoming documentary.

It would also be great if interviews with Brian De Palma and Martin Scorsese could be included.

Back in 2000, I was honored to present Dorothy Herrmann with a life achievement award for her father. We shared the awards stage at a film conference in Crystal City, Virginia, and I was joined by her nephews during the award ceremony. As I spoke of Bernard Herrmann's contributions to the art of cinema, filmed footage of Maestro Herrmann played out on a giant screen positioned on the stage behind me. Prior to the ceremony, I was privileged to sit next to Patricia Hitchcock on a panel discussion of her father's films. When Dorothy Herrmann approached me to introduce herself at the conclusion of the panel, I had the distinct honor of introducing Dorothy to Patricia for the first time in their respective lives. They laughed about their famous father's feud, and got along famously. It was a magical moment for the three of us.

Here's an article about Bernard Herrmann's life and career at The Bernard Herrmann Society, originally published by Midnight Marquee Magazine in 2000.

That's extremely generous and thoughtful of you, Mr. Fitzpatrick. Many thanks. I'll definitely be contacting you to take you up on that offer once we enter post-production.

I'm beyond excited to hear the OBSESSION re-recording!
