Ok, Zooba, you are going crazy-too-much with all of these Trek threads. But I can't resist. Echoing the Stonn thread, I still have to go with Amok Time. No wait, The Corbomite Maneuver. Umm, I mean The Doomsday Machine. I'll just stick with Amok Time. My favorite TV music ever.

Charlie X. The others are very nice too.

I've always wondered if Amok Time is such a favorite of mine because the episode is unique in dealing with an ongoing story among the main characters. I first saw it somewhere in the 70s after I had seen many other episodes (some from the time of first run even). And I remember where the episode is strongest - how the relationship between Spock and Nurse Chapel was finally, really dealt with. I remember being kind of shocked when Spock throws the soup, and then being genuinely touched by his later apology to Christine. We just didn't get these moments in episodic TV in those days of eternal resets - and this is why the main Spock theme still hits me in the gut every time I listen.

The Doomsday Machine, absolutely, but The Enemy Within is really a very close second (I really wish Sol Kaplan had done more for the series). When I do a "best of" playlist for the episode scores, I never leave out a single cue from either score. No other episodes reach that level for me. Following is Where No Man Has Gone Before, then...oh Zod, it would just be easier to say which I really don't like. I can't believe I've had this set for almost 2 years now and I still listen to it regularly.
