OK, seems like no one has started a thread on this yet.

Last night, the first trailer for the upcoming Tim Burton film was released. It looks spectacular. It seems like everytime there is 'big' in the title, Burton conjures up (at least partially) realistic landscapes.

Can't wait to hear the Elfman score for this!

Are you referring to 'Big Fish'? That's the only other 'big' I can recall in his filmography.

I like a lot of Burton's films, but the subject of this one doesn't interest me so much. I haven't bought (or heard) an Elfman score since 'Alice In Wonderland', so I'll be interested in hearing this one.

Indeed I am. The 'real-life' scenes in this film could have come from EASTENDERS, it's friggin' amazing in its socialrealistic portrayal.

I think this is more than a bit confusing!

Thank god he didn't direct Big as well!

Thor.
Edit your post.
Big Fish being mentioned in the same sentence as Eastenders is making me vom up a bit.

Ha, ha....really?

The funny thing is that I saw the EASTENDERS similarity in the film before I read that Burton was in fact a fan of the show! Then it all made sense. There's a kind of gritty social realism in those scenes.

Of course, BIG EYES is realistic in a different way. This is pastiche of 50s and 60s colours and designs and as such it may have more in common with something like MAD MEN.

Looking forward to Elfman's score. I liked all of Burton's movies from 1985-1999, and then have only cared for two Burton movies in the past 15 years (Big Fish and Sweeney Todd), so I can't say with any certainty that I'll enjoy this, but I'll give it a try.

And BIG TOP PEE-WEE. OK, so not ALL 'Big' titles have had realistic elements....

You've destroyed my reality. All this time I thought Large Marge was real.

Curse you.

Tim Burton didn't direct BIG TOP PEE-WEE though.

The rather goofy 'big eyes on regular people' effect aside, I quite liked the trailer.

Can't wait to hear what Elfman has cooked up.

Lana Del Rey has apparently contributed two songs to the soundtrack. Last news I've heard, with no release listed anywhere yet :/

On Facebook, Richard Kraft said that Interscope Records (which Lana Del Rey is affiliated with) is doing the soundtrack for this, but he did not elaborate further.

As an artist I'm interested in the whole Margaret Keane story. A lot in it I was not aware of. smile

I love Lana Del Rey so buying this one will likely be killing two birds with one stone! I saw the trailer and the movie doesn't look particularly interesting, but I'm willing to be surprised.
