The song sounds like Elfman doing "The Sound Of Silence," even though he's not credited as a co-writer. I'm not a fan of Lana Del Rey, but like some of her stuff. This just kinda does nothing for me, other than reminding me of Simon & Garfunkel.

Sorry if I come across as a stubborn, cranky kind of guy. I am that guy - but still...

I will inevitably venture into more recent territory and become more sarcastic and entitled, don't worry. Haha. NP - Matinee's end title cue (seriously, this theme!)

Listened to a bit of this at work today. I guess he liked the Hitchcock score more than we did.

Playing the score FYC now, which runs just under 39 mins but includes the Lana Del Ray title song, it would be a real shame if they don't release a pressed CD for a director/composer collaboration that is heading towards 30 years now! My hope is for a European pressing similar to the Promised Land situation. I remember having a smile when I read (in the excellent booklet notes for LaLaLand's Restless CD) how Gus Van Sant moaned about Elfman always giving Tim Burton the grand symphonic/choir treatment for his films, while his own scores got the low-key, minimal treatment. It could be argued Dan E has given Burton a GVS kinda score for Big Eyes. A lot of it is in that Van Sant/Errol Morris style we've heard from Elfman before, although there are some lovely tracks in amongst the cool vibe too. I haven't seen the film yet, so my comments are purely from the standalone music listen. The perfect situation for me, would be 30 minutes of score with some added songs/source from the film, in a pressed CD format. Not asking for much, is it?
