Wow, still going!... from theatrical release to Blu-ray release, I'm still giving this CD frequent spins!

Me too. I don't ever recall a honeymoon period that went on for so long!

I'm still listening to this quite a bit too. It's one of the only film scores that has stayed on my iPod while the other stuff shuffles off.

That freakin' "Rey's Theme" has to be one of the most infectious themes I've ever heard. I never tire of it!

Same here. Many distinct pieces that still form a coherent whole, several stand-out tracks, strong themes, beautiful, evocative melodies, a fun, old-fashioned fugato and a great finale that isn't a cut & paste job. So many things to like about it, it's on heavy rotation here as well.

Its a lovely theme. I also like that its not so much heroic as it is adventurous.

I just finished playing the Classical Classroom podcast, episode 115. It is an excellent presentation of the old and new themes Williams uses in 'The Force Awakens'. Give it a listen.

Just watched the Blu-ray and the end credits suite is longer than it was in the theatrical release. The theatrical release played the FYC version. But on the Blu-ray, Rey’s Theme now plays longer (just about the full concert version), and Scherzo for X-wing is inserted in between Rey and Kylo’s theme. Not sure what was added to the credits to make them have to extend the music?

Interesting question.

The cantina song by Lin-Manuel Miranda and JJ Abrams has been made available on iTunes. (Jabba Flow by "Shag Kava")

After re-watching the film in not neck-aching IMAX, I've grown to appreciate the music more, which i was initially very disappointed in. I think context and and the ability to rewind moments helped me get into it a bit better. There's some really nice moments in it and i do like the Kylo Ren motif. I'm sure on further views i'll start to like it even more. It's not one of my Williams must-listens, and it still doesn't quite stick with me after i've stopped listening to it but it's certainly got some nice moments running through it.

You know, it's heresy to say, but I'm not the biggest fan of most of the Star Wars scores (or the movies themselves. Another heresy, I know). Love, love, love the first score, always have, since it came out on that double LP set. But all the others I admire without really loving. However, I really do have warm feelings for this new score, perhaps because it hearkens back to the first one while remaining fresh. I listened to it for months before finally getting around to seeing the movie just last week. I think the action music is masterful, and Kylo Ren's theme a real standout, for me a high point of the series.
