After re-watching the film in not neck-aching IMAX, I've grown to appreciate the music more, which i was initially very disappointed in. I think context and and the ability to rewind moments helped me get into it a bit better. There's some really nice moments in it and i do like the Kylo Ren motif. I'm sure on further views i'll start to like it even more. It's not one of my Williams must-listens, and it still doesn't quite stick with me after i've stopped listening to it but it's certainly got some nice moments running through it.

You know, it's heresy to say, but I'm not the biggest fan of most of the Star Wars scores (or the movies themselves. Another heresy, I know). Love, love, love the first score, always have, since it came out on that double LP set. But all the others I admire without really loving. However, I really do have warm feelings for this new score, perhaps because it hearkens back to the first one while remaining fresh. I listened to it for months before finally getting around to seeing the movie just last week. I think the action music is masterful, and Kylo Ren's theme a real standout, for me a high point of the series.
