Can anyone please tell me why the the "Shipwrecked" CD is so rare ? Was it a limited edition, was it withdrawn ? Could anyone please help ? Many thanks. I think it's just that it was produced in very limited numbers because A) the film was not a financial success for Disney in the US, and B) it was still relatively early in the lifecycle of CDs. The Disney CD of The Rocketeer from the following year was also rare for a long time, until Disney reissued it a few years ago.

I can confirm that the album for Henry V is definitely not complete, although it does contain the vast majority of the score. There may be another ten minutes there, I think, but not much more (unless there was more written for the score than we heard in the movie). I think perhaps this perception of there being a lot of Henry V missing is because of Doyle's comments in the liner notes about 90 minutes of scoring, but that's not what was in the film (if it even was recorded). I think 75 minutes is the actual length. Of the missing 10-15 minutes, much is very much like material already in the soundtrack, or is connective music that (while effective in the film) would probably not add much to the original release. The only music I would have liked to have heard on the CD is very brief - that gigantic brass flourish at the Cliffs of Dover. (Now I would love to know why Henry V has never seen a Blu-Ray release, but that's a different topic.) I agree that Bridget Jones is what ought to see the light of day... Also, there are some worthwhile cues that never got onto Varese's Donnie Brasco. Fortunately, that DVD had an iso-score.

Be warned: it's a far from perfect Blu-ray. Yeah, it's higher resolution and looks better than the DVD (which I didn't think looked all that great). But there's been no restoration done on it or anything (it's Shout Factory). I still hold out hope that Criterion will put out definitive Blu-rays of the Branagh Shakespeare films one of these decades.... Yavar
