Hahahaha, I LOVE the translation of "End Titles" into Norwegian - "Sluttmusikk". Someone needs to name a band that.
He, he...I can see why that's funny in English, but 'slutt' obviously means 'end' in Norwegian. It's a rather uncommon translation, though, because 'end credits' is usually translated as 'rulletekster' in Norwegian.
That score - or should I say that theme - solidified the position of Patrick Doyle in my personal top-5 of film composers at the beginning of the '90s. After being awestruck by "Dead Again" and seduced by "Indochine", I was almost certain that this totally unknown to me Disney title (in those much missed pre-internet days!) which I found in a used bin would be treasurable.
Bizarre, there are cheaper copies of the Disney release available Buy It Now. I guess people really like the rare Norwegian packaging and don't care it's missing the final track.
Finally pulled the trigger on this one. I managed to find a copy under $40 which seems to be about the going cost right now.
I loved Indochine, Dead Again, and Frankenstein so I'm really looking forward to this one--I remember seeing the film in the theater with my sister and aunt. We wanted to see Home Alone but it was sold out so we watched this instead and my little tyke self LOVED this film. I don't remember the score at all but being a Doyle fan and a fan of the film, it seemed like a no brainer to pick this one up and I've been meaning to for a while now. Will report back with my thoughts once I give it a spin!
I've never been lucky enough to obtain a copy of the soundtrack CD, but have just bought a compilation of Norwegian film music that includes Doyle's Opening Titles:

I'd certainly welcome a re-release of the score CD (expanded or not).
That's a great set. I remember seeing it in record stores in the 90s, but not picking it up. Which I regret to this day, because now it's very hard to find. I know several others who are looking for it too, especially because of certain tracks on it that are not available elsewhere. Perhaps a bit heavy on the early vaudeville-type songs rather than instrumental score, but still very interesting.
And yeah -- still hoping for a rerelease of SHIPWRECKED. Here's an article I wrote awhile back, in Norwegian, about HÅKON HÅKONSEN/SHIPWRECKED (I've already run it through Google Translate, for anyone interested):
