Only Intrada could do this, and I don't believe Patrick Doyle has ever been on their list of priorities sadly... Doug Fake has said on several occasions that he was a very big fan of early Doyle. (It was around the time of "Eragon" that he lost interest.) That may be, but Intrada hasn't ever made a point of releasing a single Doyle score that I know of, whether premiere, expansion, or reissue... Yavar

That may be, but Intrada hasn't ever made a point of releasing a single Doyle score that I know of, whether premiere, expansion, or reissue... But there are many, many circumstances involved there. As it happens, most major Doyle scores are available, and in fairly generous lengths. In fact, the expanded "Dead Again" is the only Doyle score to have been released by one of our speciality labels that wasn't concurrent with the film's theatrical release. I'm not saying "Shipwrecked" or any Doyle is any sort of priority for Intrada -- I have no idea -- but lack of releases don't necessarily mean lack of interest. I remember a few years ago, somebody on this board (no idea whom anymore) stated categorically that Intrada "obviously has no interest" in releasing any Herrmann, and within a month, "North by Northwest" came out.

Schiffy you're forgetting that Quartet released the wonderful Killing Me Softly long after the film's release and MovieScoreMedia similarly released the almost as wonderful Man to Man. So including LLL no less than three of our beloved specialty labels have dived into the Doyle boat. Now unfortunately Varese controls the vast majority of Doyle's scores in perpetuity and are unlikely to ever expand most of them (bummer about not getting a new Carlito's Way or Needful Things...on the other hand Dead Again got out so who knows what else might?) There are however the following worthy titles that Intrada could tackle besides Shipwrecked (and unlike that title LLL could also potentially do most of these): Henry V (I don't thinks the EMI album is complete) Into the West (OST was short on score but lovely) Much Ado About Nothing Frankenstein (sign me up for this one LLL!) Une Femme Francais Sense and Sensibility Hamlet Great Expectations Quest for Camelot Est-Ouest Love's Labour's Lost Blow Dry Bridget Jones's Diary Gosford Park Calendar Girls Secondhand Lions Nouvelle France And those are just the ones I know of (did he actually record a score for Stepmom?) before Eragon (though Doyle has done some very fine work since then in the vein of his earlier work, just not for big Hollywood productions...) I can confirm that the album for Henry V is definitely not complete, although it does contain the vast majority of the score. There may be another ten minutes there, I think, but not much more (unless there was more written for the score than we heard in the movie).

I pitched the idea of a Bridget Jones score release (lots not used in the film due to songs replacing cues) to Roger at Intrada. Romantic comedy scores don't sell was his response. Re Stepmom, yes a full score by Patrick Doyle was recorded.

That's what I thought! So why not try pitching to MV at LLL instead: a Bridget Jones score release at 1000 copies and a Stepmom score release with both the complete Williams (licensed from Sony) and Doyle scores... Yavar

Has Doyle recorded any other scores that were later rejected? Yavar

Yavar BRIDGET JONES is a gorgeous score, I was amazed it didn't get a release at the time. That's a tragedy that there's a perception that romantic comedy scores don't sell, since they're often the most melodic and interesting. It would seem that Warner/Chappell now holds the rights to BRIDGET and all other Miramax scores: http://variety.com/2012/film/news/miramax-sells-music-rights-1118057272/

I believe the soundtrack on Walt Disney Records is now almost impossible to find. I do have the Disney Records version but wasn`t there a reissue a couple of years ago from another label?
