For Los Angeles-area Ennio Morricone fans who haven't been able to catch the once-a-day screenings of the documentary ENNIO at the Laemmle in North Hollywood, it is indeed scheduled to return to Los Angeles at the end of this month, screening at the downtown Alamo Drafthouse, which also has screenings scheduled of such Morricone-scored classics as Days of Heaven, Once Upon a Time in the West and The Untouchables.

"With the cinematography by Bruce Francis Cole capturing the mid-2000s Florida setting and the score from Este Haim and Christopher Stracey helping to set the right mood, 'Suncoast' eschews heavy-handed messaging about whether one is really and truly alive when one cannot survive on their own in favor of a quietly moving, occasionally surprising and ultimately lovely and thought-provoking work."

We wander back over to the care facility, expecting to roll our eyes again as Linney lays into another unsuspecting nurse or grief counselor, and then the overbearing score kicks in to remind us how deeply sad it all is. As it’s all shot with the same sunny simplicity, the sonic gear-shift is the only stylistic tell that we should start sniffling. You can’t suddenly be serious when, at any moment, Woody Harrelson might wander over and start riffing."

Chinn created a comedy series called 'Florida Girls' for Pop TV in 2019 and the Florida of it all -- think a guy called Sweet N’ Low who sells fake IDs to teenagers == also provides the film with some much-needed laughs. 'Suncoast' is hardly riotous, however, and not just because it’s about death: There are a few moments of black comedy, but on the whole 'Suncoast' is quite mild, a tone that matches the sunny cinematography and the quirky score from Este Haim and Christopher Stracey."
