Intrada has announced two new releases this week, both featuring scores from horror films from the 1980s -- a remastered version of director Frank LaLoggia's lush, Bernstein-esque score for his cult classic ghost story LADY IN WHITE (this two-disc set also includes LaLoggia's concept album "Frankie Goes to Tuscany"); and the first CD release of Richard Band's TERRORVISION (limited to 500 units.)

Varese Sarabande has announced three new CDs in their Limited Edition (500 units each for this batch) of contemporary scores, all from this year's films and expected to begin shipping next week: the animated sequel NUT JOB 2: NUTTY BY NATURE, scored by Heitor Pereira (the Despicable Me/Minions films); the period thriller THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM, starring Olivia Cooke, Bill Nighy, Douglas Booth and Eddie Marsan, scored by Johan Soderqvist (Let the Right One In, In a Better World, Kon-Tiki); and the score for the romance HAMPSTEAD, pairing Brendan Gleeson and Oscar winner Diane Keaton, directed by Joel Hopkins (Last Chance Harvey) and composed by Oscar winner Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliot).

MA MA - Alberto Iglesias
"Packaging is sleek, with design elements including Alberto Iglesias’ score aiming for an ethereal mood."
Dennis Harvey, Variety

"Despite a gripping performance by Poésy, 'The Ones Below' underwhelms in its last act, abandoning hints about the fraught nature of Theresa and Jon’s relationship and settling for an overwrought ending you’ll probably see coming. But its themes, and its 'Rosemary'-like lullaby, may haunt you for days anyway."
Sara Stewart, New York Post
"Although the first act of the film neatly distributes its sense of unease and suspicion amongst its four players, 'The Ones Below' eventually abandons that sensibility in order to stay decidedly in Kate’s camp, robbing the film of the majority of its tension and interesting character work. Initially a tricky little thriller that seems intent to ape Polanki’s 'Repulsion,' Farr’s choice to make it clear that Kate isn’t actually crazy neuters the majority of the film’s tension, twisting it from psychological thriller to what amounts to little more than a particularly intimate home invasion feature. Despite the maddening decision to excise the best part of the film’s plot -- who here is actually crazy and why? -- Farr continues to lean heavily on the film’s other genre-specific elements, like a creepy score that twists a lullaby into something slow and sinister and a series of hammy close-ups that feel embarrassingly out of joint."
Kate Erbland, IndieWire

"His film begins optimistically enough, though, as married, attractive Londoners Kate (Clémence Poésy) and Justin (Stephen Campbell Moore) visit the doctor for an ultrasound of their impending bundle of joy. Everything looks great and they’re all smiles driving home, but the tinkly, slightly eerie scores suggests something is afoot early on."
Christy Lemire,

"Perhaps aware that the comparisons to 'Rosemary’s Baby' will arrive from the start, playwright and theatre director David Farr, making his feature film debut, acknowledges the allusions to Roman Polanski’s picture from the first frames. Our first look of Clémence Poésy in the film bears a similar fragility to Mia Farrow, and the score by Adem Ilhan ('In The Loop') evokes lullabye-style tones not unlike Krzysztof Komeda’s work on Polanski’s picture. However, Farr doesn’t simply trod over similar ground to its predecessor, but offers an intriguing proposition: what if Rosemary Woodhouse became a mother to a perfectly healthy baby, but was driven mad not by a satanic cult, but by 'The Ones Below'?"
Kevin Jagernauth, The Playlist
