Still, thirty years on, my favourite Sarde score - just ahead of Fort Saganne.
Managed to see the film once, a long time ago. Didn't really rate the film from what I can remember, but the music did a good job, and it was interesting visually.
By spooky coincidence I played through the whole of Quest just last night (before seeing this thread). Hadn’t heard it for at least 10 years. It is truly magnificent
That French label (with the film poster on a pole artwork design) already did.
Indeed, the expanded version contains 3 unreleased cues: Overture (basicly the Main Titles), Fleeing (when they flee from the sabre-tooth lions and find the ashes) and The Quest for Fire (which is the same Wagabous track with the music that segues in the movie prior to the cave attack).
1. La création du feu (01:50) 2. Les Wagabous (02:02) 3. L’attaque de la caverne (04:21) 4. Le village des hommes peints (02:55) 5. Ouverture* (02:57) 6. La dernicre braise (03:08) 7. Lies lions-sabres (06:33) 8. La fuite* (02:13) 9. La petite femelle bleue (01:20) 10. Les Kzamms (03:41) 11. La guerre du feu (thcme d’amour) (05:05) 12. Les mammouths (02:20) 13. La tourmente de Naoh (02:11) 14. La quete du feu* (03:15) 15. La naissance de l’amour (03:41) 16. Le combat avec l’ours (04:51) 17. La plus grande des promesses (01:33)
I would love to see a more widely available version of this score released. Perhaps Quartet or Music Box? I've been on a Sarde kick since picking up the wonderful new release of L'OURS. This kind of music is just not being written for film anymore and it's a real shame.
