It's too bad FSM couldn't pair this with Horner's equally emotional and restrained score for the next year's THE STONE BOY. Small, intimate and horribly sad and depressing. We'll not all of it is THAT sad, but parts of it are just gut wrenchingly sad when you watch it with the film. What is that sound? Synth I assume. I remember (amongst others) one of Alexander Courage's Lost In Space scores containing a similar, painful continuous tone.
