THE DEAD DON'T HURT---trailer released for the Western movie starring Viggo Mortensen.

BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE---trailer released for the sequel starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

THE SPIDER WITHIN: A SPIDER-VERSE STORY---trailer released for the Sony Pictures Animation short film.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-f9QGLKP84

JURASSIC WORLD 4---Scarlett Johansson is confirmed to be in talks to star in the Gareth Edwards sequel. Sources claim Jennifer Lawrence was the top candidate, but she turned the role down.

BLOOD RUNS COAL---Cillian Murphy will star in the movie based on the upcoming book about labor lawyer Chip Yablonski, who sought revenge against corrupt coal miners union boss Tony Boyle, who ordered the murders of Yablonski's father and family because his father opposed opposed Boyle.

THE NAKED GUN---co-writer/director David Zucker and co-writer Pat Proft commented on the Seth MacFarlane reboot movie starring Liam Neeson.

Zucker: "Pat, Mike and I wrote a script for NAKED GUN 4 , and we heard Jon Gonda at Paramount had read the script and laughed all the way through it. But somewhere along the line, they decided not to go with Pat and Mike and me. So that’s when they got Seth MacFarlane, and he has Akiva Schaffer directing Liam Neeson. I was never able to meet with Seth."

Proft: "I’m not happy — and there’s a story with it. But I’m not pleased. It may come out and may be great — and good for that — but I sure as f**k should be writing it. I should have done this one."

Zucker: "About four years ago, Pat and I had one meeting over at Paramount with the then-head of production there. It was a woman who complained about some joke that Pat and I wrote about a police officer having to adjust her Kevlar vest or have a breast reduction or something. It’s just a stupid, mild joke, but that was too much for them. So I can’t even imagine how they’re limiting whoever does NAKED GUN 4 , if they’re that frightened. We’re not involved, and we’ve repurposed what was going to be NAKED GUN 4 — as we called it, COUNTERINTEILIJENCE , spelled with one L and a J — and we’re going to go out with that one."

Proft: "We’ve been totally blocked out of it. The unfortunate part of it is that Paramount owns it, so they can do what they f**king want. So that’s it."

Zucker: "Akiva did reach out and came to my house. I had a very nice meeting with him. He’s a great guy, and we just talked about comedy. At some point, maybe they were going to give me the script. They wanted me to be involved, but I never got a script, so nothing ever came of it."

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN---producer Jerry Bruckheimer said the next movie will reboot the franchise, "But we’re gonna reboot PiIRATES, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”

SNL 1975---JK Simmons will play Milton Berle in the movie about SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

THE LAZARUS PROJECT---Sky cancelled the series.

THE MINIATURE WIFE---Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfayden will star in the Peacock tv series about a couple who “battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis.”

TRIVIA---a 1977 CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND scene shows a Muncie, Indiana McDonald's sign saying, "OVER 24 BILLION SERVED". THE NEW YORK TIMES claimed McDonald's stopped posting its hamburger sales in 1994 with later signs saying "OVER 99 BILLION SERVED and "BILLIONS AND BILLIONS SERVED". THE WALL STREET JOURNAL estimated that McDonald's sold its 300 billionth hamburger in 2013. In 2017, Science Everywhere blogger Dan Re used the restaurant's annual sales estimates and annual financial reports to calculate that McDonald's had sold 377 billion hamburgers.

Johnny Depp was to Pirates what Robert Downey Jr. was to Iron Man.
I think they've done all that could be done with this franchise anyway.
Let it go.

Hollywood is like a busted flush these days, all franchises, reboots & sequels (are the studios actually making any money? Is it all a big tax dodge?). The new woke Naked Gun starring the 71 year old Liam Neeson looks suitably horrific. BB4 could be good fun, it needs to be well over-the-top & better than 3.

The Dead Don't Hurt looks interesting. I love westerns. I was a bit surprised to see that Viggo Mortensen was the composer as well as the lead and director.

If they really must do another Pirates of the Caribbean movie - and personally I really would prefer them not to bother - then please can they keep the ridiculously overrated Johnny Depp well away from it? His quirky Keith Richards schlick worked well in the first movie but was tiresome 17 minutes into the first sequel and has become progress more so with each successive movie.

I remember seeing the Pirates Of The Caribbean animatronics at Disneyland in the late seventies, a fantastic tableau, a full size ship, the models fighting, it was an amazing spectacle. If they're going to do another Pirates film, they don't need a Jack Sparrow or any of those characters, or any of those stupid plots, just a good atmospheric pirate movie with plenty of action, but I don't trust Hollywood to come up with the goods anymore.

I really liked him in the first film but I agree the shtick got tiresome fast.

The first Pirates Of The Caribbean was genuinely funny throughout. Each successive film was less and less so.

I'm all for another film... but you've gotta make it funny. If all you get are CGI extravagance shots and special guest stars, you don't have a movie.

My initial reaction to Liam Neeson and Naked Gun was....Uuggghhhh

But when you think about it......Leslie Neilson was cast out of type at the time.

Not saying at all that this will be good. Just remembering that, at the time, who would have thought Leslie Neilson.......?

By the time of the first Naked Gun film, Nielsen had already done Airplane and the "Police Squad!" TV series, but your point still stands. I've lost track of the number of times that Nielsen had played the "heavy" in his TV guest appearances.

Raymond Burr and Vincent Price had similar career trajectories.

NAKED GUN reboot----no Zuckers, no Pat Proft, no Leslie Nielsen.

Has Paramount Pictures forgotten about the PINK PANTHER movies without Peter Sellers?

Paramount has a spectacular track record of mismanaging its franchises, either blowing them off entirely, or making bad sequels and reboots, or flat failing to celebrate anniversaries of its largest money makers like Star Trek. For a once great studio they have certainly fallen. It is rather disappointing. They have dumped tons of money into Mission Impossible, but it certainly appears that the audience is exhausted and tired of that product now, and Paramount is already locked in to spend another $350 million for a film that not a lot of people want to see anymore.
