La-La Land Records, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, EON Productions and Universal Music Enterprises proudly commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the 1983 James Bond film OCTOPUSSY, with a remastered and expanded 2-CD re-issue of composer John Barry’s original motion picture score to the film, starring Roger Moore in his sixth turn as 007 and directed by John Glen.

Legendary composer John Barry (GOLDFINGER, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, DANCES WITH WOLVES) returns again to the Bond franchise with OCTOPUSSY, delivering another bold, thrilling, dramatic and romantic orchestral score, along with a dreamily smooth and sensuous title track performed by Rita Coolidge. The renowned composer combines his chase-and-action style from the’60s with his more sophisticated, symphonic approach of the late ’70s and early ’80s, giving 007 the best of both musical worlds. OCTOPUSSY – 40th ANNIVERSARY EXPANDED LIMITED EDITION showcases the film’s music in exhilarating fashion, with improved sound and never-before-released material.

Produced by Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Doug Schwartz, Disc One of this deluxe release showcases the film’s Score Presentation and additional music, while a remaster of the original 1983 soundtrack album is housed on Disc Two, along with the CD premiere of the “Extended Instrumental Version” of “All Time High”! The film score on Disc One was sourced from ¼ inch stereo tapes of the film mixes, while Disc Two’s original 1983 soundtrack and the “Extended Instrumental Version” of “All Time High” are from ¼ inch stereo album masters. All of the tapes were newly transferred in high resolution for this set.

This special release is limited to 5000 units and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by “The Music of James Bond” author Jon Burlingame and sharp art design by Dan Goldwasser.

Double post, probably caused by over-excitement.

I have waited a long time to hear this. Some have waited 40 years, but I remember when my friend lent me his Rykodisc CD back in the late 90s, then realised there was a fair bit missing when I watched the film soon after. 25 years wait. big grin

No dialogue, no sale!

Yep, joking.

I was just thinking about that. Looking at my Ryko release and realising for the first time this will be clean music, all of it!

I am loving these samples. I can't believe we're getting extra JOHN BARRY Bond music! AT LAST!!!!

I'd love to know how long these releases were in the pipeline.

The fact that this is a John Barry Bond score is fantastic as I think anything is possible now & we as James Bond Music fans need to support both of these releases as LLL records are doing a fantastic job

I've wanted that short cue "India," which plays as he arrives in India and passes the Taj Mahal in a helicopter, since I was a little kid! smile

Well, I'm in. There are wonderfully exotic moments in this score and yet more inventive variations on the Bond theme. The song works well instrumentally in the context of the film. Looking forward to it.

Bloody hell! What a lovely surprise. This and Live and Let Die, too.

Both ordered.

'Til recently I was a US resident and now I'm back in Europe, I'll have to wait a bit longer to get 'em, but it'll be worth it.

Octopussy is my favorite Moore film and one of my favorites in the series. The score is beautifull even if not among the best that Barry composed for the series.

Barry was wonderfull in short tracks that usually were ommited from the soundtracks (in this case the end of the auction scene [end of track 6], the India arrival and that short beautifull flute music when Bond sees Magda arriving in Octopussy's boat from his hotel window [first part of track 8]). These short moments will add need variety to the listening experience of this score and seeing that the source tracks were included (and after the main program, except for the restaurant instrumental that is included in the score program) is a great bonus and perfect sequencing.

And the samples sound great.

I never lost hope that LLL would bring more Bonds, specially after Tomorrow Never Dies. For me this is even more exciting than their great Black Friday 2023 batch. Hope 2024 will be the year of expanded Bonds!

N. Not a big fan of the borders, but I understand they must have to use the original artwork with it to diferentiate from the original releases. It's good that you can crop a little the hi-res image taking out the borders but without loosing any of the text or image.
